I agree. I know it's an anime figurine but it looks compeltely different with liara.alex90c wrote...
Might as well have just labelled it "Asari #3654325 in Liara's outfit" since it looks pretty much nothing like her.

No F-in way.
Amazing how many people on these forums are so familair with 12 year old hookers or in the case of Merrill a 14-16 year old.
Amazing how many people on these forums take a liking to this hentai-schoolgirl-pedophiliac fetish. It's all unnecessary exaggeration. Exaggeration that was never meant for certain characters.
You haven't stopped speaking about Hentai all night and day I suggest you seek some help.
...All because you like that kind of stuff? So that's why you are feeling threatened... Who's projecting now?

She is literally in the same pose she is in the ME3 ads but they made her boobs bigger and her face more like every other face in their line. They didn't add cutouts in her clothing or pose her in a suggestive way.
Um, what?

Right. Identical.

The proportions are totally off and it doesn't look like Liara.

I can design a sexy Liara figure that has the right face and proportions. They cut corners to try and get to "sexy" when it was right there if they'd look.Shimmer_Gloom wrote...
This is a bishojo figure. Literally 'beautiful girl.' Its suposed to be sexy. If it wasn't sexy it would fail utterly. They made her boobs big and her face is kinda wonky. They could have done MUCH MUCH worse. In fact I'm surprised how faithful the model is to the character.
But for an entire race of creatures made to cater to the 'sexy green alien lady' trope its hardly surprising they made a Bishojo statue. I dig it for what it is. And I'd totally buy it if I had the cash.
Not everyone's ideas of 'sexy' is the same. I like big ones, the bigger they are the sexier, but other people don't.
Shimmer_Gloom wrote...
Or well, not exactly mine either.
But that is pretty much exactly what Bishojo characters tend to look
like. And really, they didn't change her that much. They just made her
boobs much, much bigger.
Her breasts aren't that much bigger... I'd say they are about the same
size as they've appeared in ME3 and during Lair of the Shadowbroker.
They just sitck out more and it looks like they are up higher than her
character model.
Jayce F wrote...
What's with dismissing her face and huge breasts with "It's Anime! That's the style!" ?
Just because it's an Anime style doesn't mean it's the only Anime Style, (or even a suitable anime style.)
Take
this Motoko Kusanagi figurine for example. It's shows thats
it's perfectly possible to have an bishoujo sculpt that doesn't
sacrifice the subject's character for some hyper-sexualised ideal.
Dude,
that statue's breasts are just as big as the Liara statue! Your
assessment is skewed because of your feelings towards 'staying true to
Mass Effect' and stuff.

It's been a while since I saw GitS,
but I don't recall her pants being so tight that they completely outline
the crack of her butt. And yeah, the sculpture doesn't hyper-sexualize
her...because she's typically hypersexualized in the anime she comes
from.
That's because she doesn't wear pants, at least not in Stand Alone Complex. What she does wear in that actually shows it.
This is what she wears:

That's not just a child's face, it's
almost infantile. It's creepy, and disturbing, and while I'm usually
one of the first people to line up to fling money in BioWare's
direction, I'm not buying that. It's just flat out terrifying.
Seriously.
Look up Bishojo, it actually refers to young girls. Hence why her face looks like that.
I'd try to explain it more, but it appears you wouldn't understand judging from your post.

I didn't get to
watch Tekken Blood Vengeance... I didn't hear about it until like last
week, and it was actually playing at a theatre very close to my house!
Now I have to buy Tekken Hybrid to see it....
DeathDragon185 wrote...
I think it's fine just make the boobs smaller and everyone will happy.................. somewhat
I
won't be happy, I like the statue the way it is. I also doubt any
changes to the extreme people think will be made. And it had a release
date, so I doubt they will just flat out cancel it.
The person who makes the statues isn't going to make any changes that would go against the meaning of the term Bishojo because then it wouldn't be in that style. And it is made to fit a certain niche, most likely to appeal to the Japanese audience rather than the majority of people on these boards.
Also, shrinking her breasts would then make her lolita, and that's the reason I don't care for how she looks before Lair of the Shadow Broker and ME3. In other words: because she looked like a freakin' lolita. So did all the other female characters in Mass Effect before Samara and Morinth.

Whats funny is the artist drawing doesn't match the in game version either yet a lot of people loved that one. Some didn't obviously always is 'some' one thing or another in all walks of life. People just have their preferences and take it too far in belittling what others may prefer or even just fine with.

This is about as about as good as I can do with colouring and without altering face shape itself.

Yes because ME2 wasn't full of Miranda butt shots and nipple straps. They are obviously above this sort of thing.

The figure itself regarding the body shape and style match the style of the figurines they make product series wise in that regard I like it.
It's well molded and crafted.
The face is the only bit worthy of debate for me and while it has flaws such as nose to small, eyes too low and cheeks too round as shown with coloured in picture only few replies up I linked. It can look ok when painted right.
Not perfect, maybe younger than Liara but still just fine as they are not meant to be going for realism in the first place here as shown by the artist drawing the figurine was made about wasn't identical to Liara either.

And does this even make business sense? The negative comments on the facebook page outnumber positives ten to one. Even if this statue fits into the norms of the style, why pick a style that most fans either don't like, or don't know about?
