While I appreciate the effort of painting it in... her head still looks like a bloated tic.
And does this even make business sense? The negative comments on the facebook page outnumber positives ten to one. Even if this statue fits into the norms of the style, why pick a style that most fans either don't like, or don't know about?
I really wouldn't be so worried because I'm guessing this will just be one of many such models, sets and figurines that will be made under various brands. EA loves draining every last ounce of money in your wallet and bank account I am very much sure this is one style set to begin with and more will follow from other sources especially with the coming to end of Shepards story, merchandise will play a big role from then on until something else comes along.
The other thing is while BSN for the most part is anti-anime (myself not in that group), the wider audience of millions that bought ME titles may or may not like this style of figurine. There is no way to say one way or other and comes down to are the couple thousend who may object vs thousend or so who don't on Facebook a snapshot of overall opinion from the millions or just more devoted fans alone with different veiw to random Joe on street who bought ME or just likes collecting models and happens to have played ME or not.
ME in itself is not huge in Japan I beleive (just a guess) if done in a style that is popular over there (again a guess) it may bring them into the ME universe and purchase the games. I'm guessing that is more the reason than pleasing you or me or everyone else on BSN. Though really, I like it if the painting is done well enough it's fine to me I don't need an exact replica of Liara, I like a well made well cast and created detailed model, with good colour and interesting style. If happens to fall into the realm of ME then even better but as a standalone product is ok providing the painting is done well.

Shrewd... cold hearted... with a blatant disregard for the established fanbase.... Yeah, typical EA marketing.

So this thing was made to entice Japanese gamers into playing Mass Effect?

She basically has the same head shape as the artist's other work, but the other statues have hair so the forehead is covered up and they don't look as bad.
Statue!Liara needs a wig, pronto!

Shrink the boobs to a decent size and make the face actually look like who it's supposed to, ( as opposed to a 12 year old hooker ), and i'd probably buy one, but as it is...
No F-in way.
Amazing how many people on these forums are so familair with 12 year old hookers or in the case of Merrill a 14-16 year old.
What the hell are you smoking?
I take it you've never watched TV or gone to a major city shopping area.
These days it seems as though a good 85% of 12-16 year old girls think it's their god given right to dress and act like hookers.

The problem I have with it is her damn huge ass infantile looking forehead.

I was thinking about that, but I think when the statue is colored in, the difference in coloration between her scalp and forehead as seen in the artwork will make her 'hairline' more apparent. Also the eyebrows.
Two-second paint job...

This....
Though I think the eyes could be bigger or something but that's neither here nor there.
Ehh I wouldnt mind if her ******'s were a bit smaller or at least have her shoulders more relaxed like they are in the concept art. Either way I do like the idea of a Liara figurine, since I have the perfect place for it.

I've said this on facebook and I'll say it here. That is not Liara's face, the chest size is all wrong. Without the face and proper proportions all it is is a random Asari. It looks NOTHING like Liara from the game. You can't call it Liara if it doesn't look like her. Seriously the figurine is an insult to the character Liara itself.
To be fair, there's probably all sorts of red tape involved in making and marketing secondary merchandise thats based off a real model. Jillian Murray might also have personal issues with her likeness being used in ways she hasn't agreed to, but who knows....

It's a close approximation of what the statue will look like (if they use her ME1/ME3 coloration.
