No, I wasn't offended, I'm just frustrated with all the vritriol being said here. Seeing so many people attack not only this figurine but japanese animation and culture gets on my nerves. I'm sorry that I lashed out a bit at you, that was unfair and I apologize.

Look, for the most part I agree with the criticism, at least when it's made civilly. Its breasts are rather large and its face is only barely reminiscent of Liara. The thing is, I'm not too hung up on that, mainly because I never expected it to be perfect and I was never looking to buy one in the first place. If you look at it from the perspective that you want it to be as close to the in-game model as possible, of course it's wrong. I just don't see it from that point of view. I see it as someone made a figurine of "anime" Liara and now that I see it I go "Well, there you go". I wouldn't call it monstrosity, merely an offbase interpretation of Liara.

Let me get something straight. Are you trying to say that the Liara anime design was because o the different design and colors the artist is used to? I just want to be sure.

What? I said they have their own style and they have their own colour palettes that is fact (figurine creation companies). That is the difference between having someone like Shenzhen Chuangle or Kotobukiya even Play Arts do it. They each have their own styles. The style of design differs between companies and the colours also differ this is seporate to whether or not you think it's made well enough.

Whether the quality is upto your personal opinion of good enough or anyone else's is completley different to what I just said. The paint Palette they use may not be the exact match and by no means are Kotobukiya's works exact matches as ingame counterparts. They are simular to varying degree's with variation in quality and perception of other on if they like or do not with his style to enhance breasts and give it more youthful appearence. This is shown in everything done there not just this one, only this one looks bit younger but that is all and is quality issue not fault of style.

While the boobs are a bit OTT, it's the baby-like face that truly disturbs me. Those proportions of huge forehead to squashed facial features do not belong on a body like that.

I actually like Shunya Yama****a and his bishoujo line, but this isn't his or Kotobukiya's best work. If the face was close to the face on the Rogue model, I'd probably have bought it.

I agree with you, this thread has been pretty hostile... and maybe i'm even being influence by it from time to time


Personally i like the anime style, and i was looking forward to buy this statue. I think the illustration made by the artist was a well done bishoujo representation of Liara; of course i wasnt looking for a representation of the in-game model, but the one presented as a draw in the Comic-con.

The reason why i'm dissapointed, is because for me this prototype dont represent the concept art very much, with exception of the armor (is very well done)

- The posture of the character is different, she's looking shy down instead of straight forward wich would give her a more sense of confidence. Besides, the arms are not relaxed, but concentrated in squishing her breasts to look more sexy (that is an unconfortable position for a woman and wouldnt do it in natural basis). Also she's not holding the pistol properly either.
- The face seems a little off, there's something that makes her look way too young. I dont know if is because of the big forehead, the asian shaped eyes or other. But it doesnt look like the face of the concept art either. Also she has eyebrows, and asari dont have them, that should be made with the paint job
- The breasts are too big, could be an added effect because of the arms pressing them together, but it doesnt matter, she shouldnt be doing that in the first place, and again, dont follow the concept design

Thats the best way i can explain why i dont appreciate this statue at all, and the reason why i dont want to buy it anymore. For me, how she is right now, is just not Liara.

But if they work on those details, i'll buy it without question, because i was really looking forward to it

I'm not sure David is really analogous. I mean, look at his junk. If this were an anime figurine line it would be like 16 inches long, swaying between his disproportionately long noodle legs.
