When examining the model of Liara, you can plainly see that it's influenced by Hentai. The features and physique that have been discussed over and over in this thread.

Your idea of Hentai is if anything is remotely animates and has some sexuality in it its Hentai. 

If you think about it, Mass Effect is animated (digitally animated). And it has sexuality.

I was talking about the features, toddler face mixed in with the godly ******, that make it look like a satirical spin-off of Hentai, because that is how the girls look in animated pronography.

That aside, I know Hentai when I see Hentai (deviant art) and good sir that is not Hentai, and while it is rather creepy and most likely ecchi (not even enough to qualify as soft core hentai, just perverted) I find your instance offensive like so many people on this forums who use Anime like a dirty word and talk about how any big breasts must be the result of Anime's corrupting influence on Mass Effect, but do me a favor and look at how sexualized wonder woman always has been and how the women in western comic books have barely been able to fit into their spandex thanks to the most common superpower.

Wonder woman did not have the face of the toddler, neither do the heroines of western comics. Plus, at least the characters of Mass Effect look like the people that are voice acting ( or at least attempt to look like them). thanks for clarifying - I wasn't able to see her face very clearly, but you can see here that her body shape is still quite normal in-game:  

It seems the anime-style figurine has no bearing on Liara's appearance in-game, so I have absolutely no problem with it. Not really into collecting knick-knacks and figurines.

Its a Bishoujo figure, what did you people expect? Its marketed to a certain demographic, those who don't like it don't need to worry about it, because not only will you not buy it but it has no bearing for anything in game.

Nice article actually and wasnt biased like I expected it to be.

My thoughts exactly.

Its the exact same situation with the "Americanized" Hatsune Miku made for the car commercials. Yes she looks different, yes its a different style, but thats the point of conversion.

Indeed. I mean if Bioware wanted an western styled figure they would have used another company. Instead they used the Japanese company Kotobukiya who make Bishoujo anime style art. I mean what did fans expect to see?

Ok yes her face is off still and her bust could be downplayed. I totally get that criticism like Destructoid pointed out. But this is exactly what Kotobukiya make and do. This style wasn't going to appeal to everyone. Maybe that was Biowares mistake though and they should have played it safe...

Personally I do like it and im glad they didnt play it safe. As to do the 3,230 Likes on facebook! The ultimate impact though will be in how well it sells.

The west are a million times worse than Japan regarding breasts and butts because unlike in the east with such places as Japan who may draw or animated features... The hatred of anime/manga and such on BSN is shocking really, so many ignorant people bashing something they know little about based on stereotypes and wanting to be in the [it's cool to bash/belittle Anime club]. Not all anime has huge breasts and in real life women all over world mainly in the west especially America have vastly larger ones than depicted in anime or that model due to the American fascination with body image, implants and surgery.

As for the model it's a style of art, if don't like; don't buy and move on with your life.

There are many people on here who realise it's a [art style] and they are mature enough to state it's just not their cup of tea but have no objection to it (those people have my respect for applying common sense).

I might be mistaken but I think some of art was in some capacity done by a japanese artist(s) I've forgotten were I saw it.  But I remember coming across the Miranda/Samara showdown poses and I hunted down the information.  Kasumi is another example of this or at least of a japanese influence as she goes all ninja on a helicopter from the future and the goofy taunt it certainly seems to be.

Hmmm there is slight over reaction I think to the statue, yes it is maybe a bit on the provocative side but it is artists impression of Liara not the actual look of the character that will feature in the game.

I see a lot of "sexed" up pics in the fan thread here on the forum but people seem to like those......so what's the difference?

No one if forcing people to buy it and it probably won't be the only statue ever made of Liara so what's all the fuss about really?
