As far as the statue goes it certainly looks well crafted, Like most I'm not a fan of the design, mostly just because I've never been a huge fan of anime in general.

Why is it that anime characters always have such HUGE boobs. It's ridiculous! It's like she's pushing them up with her arms...
The west are a million times worse than Japan regarding breasts and butts because unlike in the east with such places as Japan who may draw or animated features... The western women actually implant them day in day out. Pamela Anderson, Katie Price, millions of American women have implants vastly larger than those, many British, French, Canadian etc women and so on also. Kotaku only recently did a article about a young girl with butt and breast addons for silly pageant thing and I'm pretty sure she was western and not Japanese.
My point is pot > kettle > black.
I'm guessing you have never seen Morrinth in game then whos breast are just like ones on that model.
Miranda also not that much different among others.
The hatred of anime/manga and such on BSN is shocking really, so many ignorant people bashing something they know little about based on stereotypes and wanting to be in the [it's cool to bash/belittle Anime club]. Not all anime has huge breasts and in real life women all over world mainly in the west especially America have vastly larger ones than depicted in anime or that model due to the American fascination with body image, implants and surgery.
As for the model it's a style of art, if don't like; don't buy and move on with your life.
There are many people on here who realise it's a [art style] and they are mature enough to state it's just not their cup of tea but have no objection to it (those people have my respect for applying common sense).
Deleted. I don't want to argue on BSN.

If this prototype gets approved for production then sadly I will not be getting it. The face is all wrong, even compared to the concept drawing. It doesn't even resemble her in ME1 when she had her most youthful appearance out of all the games, even in an anime style. It's the structure and age that are off.
I know that the style of statues from this line are exaggerated sexually, and I could even live with the body the way it is seen in this prototype (sigh, even the huge whammers being pushed together by her arms...
Quite frankly I'm also kind of disgusted that they went with an open-top-cleavage-exposed outfit as can be seen in the first image in my post. Now, I know that it could just be skin-tight fabric of some sort (since the prototype is unpainted) because it is black in the concept art for the sculpture but considering the nature of the rest of Koto's statues, I'm honestly expecting that they will paint it skin-blue, especially since her actual LotSB clothing was not open in the chest area like that.
It's a pity because the actual craftsmanship appears to be superb.
(Also the basement nerd in me has to point out the sculpted eyebrows which are supposed to only be skin pigment but that is a trivial detail overall and would not be even close to a deal breaker for me.

You have to keep in mind though: Neither EA nor BioWare made this design. Some Japanese figurine company did.
Addendum to my previous post: Does "renowned illustrator Shunya Yama****a" work for BioWare? No? In that case BioWare did not make this design. If anything they simply commissioned it. Still doesn't mean I have to like it, though.
I didn't pay enough attention to the caption first time around.

But I'll never understand the... disturbing.. behavior of some Japanese art / anime.... they almost seem to have an obession / desire to" "I want to fantasize having sex with an under age little girl... but society says that's wrong... so let's just draw a little girl's face but give her a woman's body... yeaaah, now it's ok and I won't be thrown in jail."
Then again... they also seem to like to draw anime girls that have child-like features both in their face and figure.... and then sexualize them with absurdly short skirts and ceaseless up-skirt panty shots or suggestive poses / actions.... then they make sure to point out in the story that this girl is actually in their late teens or even young adult, but is clearly designed to look like a child. Goodness I'll never understand how their society tolerates that in the slightest... scares me.

Because anime is ridiculously stylized and slavishly formulaic. Also, it's often hyper-sexualized.
Not to mention they seem to like pasting pre-pubescent faces onto exaggerated-supermodel bodies. Which is exactly what they did to Liara. It's gross.

They have now combined forces in here to spout gibberish and hate because the topic is about a) a romance character which has called (some of) the Liara love brigade to arms and
Seriously people get a grip, if the art style doesn't suit you; don't buy. If your offended by breasts, don't buy. If you hate anime with a vengence then don't buy. If you don't think it has been crafted with enough care or believe paint will be bad than again don't buy. If you think it desecrates your virtual love of a fictional character then don't buy... Then move on with your life.

Apparently people either don't know anything about anime, more precisely the bishoujo art style, or think that it's beneath them, since they are into more intell things, such as poetry and touchy feelings.

That is anime style dont make an excuse for this huge breasts, the others statues of the same company have them more moderate, but they over did it with the Liara one, also it doesnt follow the proportions of the original draw from the artist. Feels like they just messed up.
And the fact that they sculpt "eyebrows" just show they dont know the character or asari in general at all.

If it would be an Omega stripper i wouldnt care, but is Liara, probably the least sexualized asari on the game, and even less than some of the humans ones. This is so out of character that is painful. I was thinking into buying it, but it became a let downRezources wrote...

Movies, video games and comic books all seem to have hyper-sexualized character with males and females. It's nothing new to this world. Beside Anime is a term of Japanese animation.
But I agree that this doesn't feel Liara. She isn't the type that tries to look good for the camera. This picture would look better with someone like Miranda.

Bare in mind this is the artistic style Kotobukiya do. If your not a fan of it then I would say this figurine is not for you.
Personally I quite like it. Her face is slightly off, but that my only real complaint.
This discribes my feelings quite well on said Liara statue. I think it will be the first anime statue i buy tbh. To each their own i suppose.

Right, because disliking the art style of a different culture makes one racist (or being uncomfortable with their obsession with making sexualized characters that also appear child-like also makes one a racist?)
I dislike cabbage. Russians love cabbage (well, maybe not love.. but they sure eat more of it than other nations)... apparently that makes me "racist" towards Russians too.
I don't overly care for pasta either.... I guess that makes me "racist" towards Italians?
I can't stand coffee, I hate the taste.... so clearly that means I want to commit mass genocide against all Columbians... right?

It's also designed in a fairly typical japanese style and to have expected otherwise would have been... optimistic. I don't care for it either but it's kind of cool to see another take on a familiar character's design.

I think people are way too immersed in their fictional virtual romances with certain characters in a video game that anything that doesn't fit into their perfect ideological view of that character is blasphemy and on top of that there is a very large anti-anime population on BSN.
Right, because the three thousand+ comments on the Facebook post/gallery asking for feedback are all people from the BSN. The response over there is pretty much the same as it is here; i.e. mixed but a lot of it is pointing out the same general critiques: the boobs are huge and the face doesn't look like the character.

It may have escaped your attention but BSN users such as myself and yourself are also registered on other sites like for example Facebook. Of which we all tend to say the same thing on there as do here.
