I like anime.

What I don't really like is characters who are not deliberately sexualized in their actual characterization being depicted as such for the sole purpose of titillating the viewer. It's sort of a problem with the media image of women in general.

Yes, people irrationally hate anime and pretend to have more animosity towards it than they actually do because it is seen as socially unacceptable, but they are not secretly projecting their latent pedophilic desires by saying the figure looks like a little girl. Stop that.

Yes I am aware its in line with the rest of the art, its also probably exactly the vision the artist wanted. So, good for them.

But sticking a babies face on an overly sexualised womans body, calling it as part of a series of "Beautiful women" statues is pretty much the polar opposite of what I'm looking for in the female leads of Mass Effect.

What do you think projecting is? When they come out with comments like this is made for pedo's then by making such a statement you are implying people who want to buy it are pedo's. That is projecting your opinion/feelings onto other people based on your own perception of that products or person.

Pretty much.... that's sort of what distresses me about a lot (not all) anime in general though.... men getting turned on by young / little girls that have been given the bodies of full grown women in an effort to excuse / justify the creepy fact they're turned on by the thought of young girls with heaving bosoms and womanly curves... implications unpleasant. Why does it have to be a child's face? What is the appeal in the fantasy of a child having a body that is "fully developed" and capable of performing what they want in their fantasies? You know what, don't answer that. 

Why can't it just be the face of a regular woman (or very young woman even)... why the obsession with mashing children's / young girls' faces onto women's bodies? It's just not healthy. And it's not just this mangled Liara figure I refer to, but a fair amount of anime in general.

Carve out the cheeks a bit, strengthen the cheekbones, jaw, and chin and the face will look better.

I think someone like TK Miller would have been better off doing the figure since he can make women look both sexy and powerful.

Why do you judge a completely different ideology with your standards? I don't always agree with the depiction of women in the Japanese culture but I am tolerant enough to understand that their culture has different ideals that the Western/American culture. How is this worse than those children beauty peagants they have in America? At least the Japanese keep their tendencies mostly  fictional.
