Spoilers suck

I came into the ME universe several months after ME2 had been released. So completly spoiler free, I had the opportunity to play ME1 and ME2 back to back. Some of my favorite moments inlude:
- getting goose bumps when sheppard speaks with Soverign and discovers he IS a reaper
- chasing Saren through Ilos
- Totally freaking out 5 min into ME2 seeing Sheppard die.
- Bringing Legion onto the Quarran Fleet (lol)
I originally purchased ME via steam but I've gone and purchased DVD versions in case Steam ever goes poof. I was able to get ME2 Collectors edition off Ebay.
One thing I noted (watching all the promo material they released leading up to ME2) is how much of the story they spoiled.
Did that turn anyone off the game?
( Please forgive any typing / spelling mistakes)

That's why I try to avoid any spoilers/demos/reveals this time around. Seems like BW isn't given out as much info either although it is early. But as we get closer to March 2012 I wouldn't be surprised if they drop more info about who/what like last time.
Once that happens I'll be avoiding the ME site.

Concerning ME2, I think they had a pretty good balance there. People complained about spoiling Sheps death but that happens right at the beginning so to be fair, it was something they had to show. The only thing that they shouldn't have done is to show that Garrus is Archangel before the reveal of the game. Would have been great to go into that moment unspoiled.

Character reveals and gameplay features I don't mind, but major story reveals I'm not too fond of. Like, if they told us there's no way to beat the Reapers or something insanely unexpected like that, I would be kinda mad.

For ME2, unfortunately I got too excited about it's release and so watched pretty much all the pre-release promo stuff. So I knew quite a lot of the story and the 'surprises' before even playing. And it did somewhat dampen my enjoyment of the story.
For ME3 I'm trying to stay away from as much as possible. I already know more than I wanted (the stuff with Mordin in some of the ME3 gameplay footage), to be honest even knowing that Mordin is in the game was more than I wanted to know. So I'm pretty much staying away from anything ME3 related until it's released. I want to try and get as much of that ME1 feeling as I can.

When I bought ME1 I knew absolutely nothing about it. To be honest I was actually just bored and was looking for something to keep me occupied until whatever big release I was looking forward to at the time. As such, everything in the game was a complete surprise. I still remember being totally shocked when asked to chose between Ashley and Kaiden (personally one of my favourite moments in gaming). Not knowing what was coming just heightened my enjoyment of ME1 as it was all a surprise.

like with ME2 though you have to take everything pre-released with a grain of salt. by the end of ME1 i just knew that my crew would be in ME2 in some form, they spent the whole game building a relantionship as a player with your crew, they couldn't just abandon that, that would be bad story telling. another thing i figured was the choice factor, seeing a pic of Wrex on his throne in ME2 doesn't make alot of sense if you've killed him on virmire, but there has to be a minimum default story so it didn't bother me. seeing vids of kaiden in ME2 after i killed him and stuff, that helped me get past it being a spoiler as i knew it wasn't MY game they were showing, just some of the possible footage. in fact it made me more excited about MY game and what would happen. so for ME3 i knew before they showed anything that mordin, tali, in fact all of your crew would play a part, they had to again just like the transition from ME1 to ME2, they have to play a part and they're showing us that, how much of a part though is up to your and YOUR personal game, and to me that's ****in exciting!

Yeah I see what your saying, and I agree that it's fairly certain that any of your squad are going to at least to be in the next game, even in some small way. For instance, I know Ashley is in ME3 (in my game at least) which has me super excited. But using my example again for a second, knowing that Mordin was in ME3 wasn't really a spoiler (I was probably over-exaggerating there) but if you've watched the gameplay footage I'm referring to, you can find out important aspects of that particular section of the game (I actually turned it off after about 10 seconds to avoid too many spoilers). And in the build up to ME2 for example, some of the footage they showed told you that Garrus was Archangel. Bits of inromation like that is the stuff I don't want to know before playing the game.
But then it is hard to filter just the basic info from the more inportant story elements, hence why I try to stay away from as much as I can......as difficult as that is (damn Bioware and getting me so excited <_<)

it's too hard to stay away eh, and i know what you mean, my arguement doesn't stack up against everything. like seeing pics of shep INSIDE the collector ship, that was really crappy of them but then on the other hand i was just super amped that i was actually gonna be ablet o get in there and take it to 'em. i guess as far as ME2 goes there's actually not alot going on as far as twists and turns so not too much to be given away. as far as ME3, well the whole thign is a twist, i don't wanna see any of it but i will, i'm hunting down all the vids and clips i can find right now lol, tragic.
