NOTE:  This topic is not putting down the characters of Garrus or Tali, nor is it putting down those who romance them.  I am just wondering why some see these characters as attractive in the physical sense.
-----------------------------------

I have never understood why some mass effect fans have some physicall attraction towards Garrus or Tali.

Garrus is like a dinosaur.  So i don't know why some see his body as attractive.

And Tali.....chicken feet, weird legs, weird hands, unknown face, nuff said.

Garrus and Tali i believe are the most alien out of all the romance opitions.  So i wonder why some seem so attracted to their alien attributes.  Or do people choose to romance these characters not because of their physical body?  What are your thoughts about this topic?

People love different things and are drawn towards whatever suits their personality or what they find attractive. Personality can influence what an individual thinks of attractiveness and lead to seeing something they haven't seen before. People might not like Jack because of lack of hair, but I see past that, as people do with Tali's leg's or what Garrus looks like. Also, a romanctic relationship isn't just based off of looks, sure it plays a role, but there's a lot more to it.

There's a lot of variables to consider and I'm all for anyone liking anything, whatever makes them happy!

Winning personality can pull in a lot of fans, it can also make it easier for fans to connect with them emotionally.. Personally ->*I*<- ->*ME*<- ->*MYSELF*<-, don't get a lot of emotion out of any of the Mass Effect characters, they feel a little bit too static to me.

I can understand people enjoying Tali and Garrus' romances, i've played through both to see the extra dialogue, and they're very well written. The voice acting is also superb. So it's really no surprise they're so popular.

I also believe, for Tali, the mystery of her appearance adds a lot of fan appeal.

Editted for missing out a giant chunk of ramble.

anthropomorphic pixelated characters = more leeway in what's attractive.

plus there are furries in real life.. you know people who are turned on by wearing or being with folks, covered head to toe in animal costumes. a fetish is a fetish

There are people in real life who have romantic/sexual attraction to animals, plants, even inanimate objects. So yes, I'm sure there would be people attracted to them. ;)

As to your original question, Tali is my undisputed favourite of the ME love interests so far, and her personality is what attracts me to her. If there was another human squadmate with exactly the same personality as Tali on board, would I be attracted to her over Tali? That's hard to say. Attraction is a very murky issue with dozens of factors (including some which are subconscious) involved.

None of them are attractive to me, because they're all video game characters.

I think ManShep's two best romances are Tali and Liara since they have the most realistic personalities. A lot of Miranda's and Ashley's romance dialogues were eye-rolling for me.

Quarians have human-like hips, what's different is minor.
Now Turians I don't get, no lips and who knows what's going on with the lower region, plus I hate them because of the first contact war.

Might be just me, but I reckon their voices, personality and Tali's hips might make up a fair part of the equation.

....& I don't actually find either of them a turn on. ( yeah yeah, shocking confession from a crack pairings fanatic, but if it sounds lulzy, I ship it. )

This^ so much and very well said. Anyway, I say, to each their own and I am no judge, it's only for those to find what is attractive and romantic in their eyes. How we respect each other when we discuss what "floats our boats", says a lot as well .

Your not the only one who ive heard who romances Tali mainly because of her personality, however this topic is not about those people, but about those who do it because of the shape of her body.

I like Garrus' personality (esp in ME2) and overall badassery. He's been there from the beginning and he's one of your most loyal squad mates. The sexy voice helps too ;)
If I only cared about looks, I would romance Jacob.

If people legitimately find Garrus physically attractive I think they have issues.

He's got claws, mandibles, a metallic exoskeleton, and raptor-like features. Turians are very alien in appeareance to the point where they should not be physically attractive to the average human. If Turians really existed, people who had a thing for them would fall into the bizarre fetish category.

Tali on the other hand I can sort of understand. And this is coming from someone who often finds the more extreme among the Talimancers to be a little creepy. Sure, she's got some alien features like three fingered hands and chicken feet, but the rest of her not only looks like a woman, but is a ridiculously hot one at that. (hands aside)  From the shoulders to the knees she's got a hot body, and I'm sure the Talimancers are imagining a pretty face beneath the helm. If she had a tentacle face like the Protheans I'd bet she'd be a lot less popular. Image IPB

Garrus is a Roman space raptor and has a sexy voice. And therefore doable.
Tali has a sexy voice and pleasant hips. Therefore doable.

Both have intriguing personalities. *which is actually the biggest draw for many*

True, I suppose that would fall under Rule 34. Image IPB

But I don't imagine she'd remain the most popular LI.

This.

I find turians aesthetically quite interesting, for a pixelated alien species, as I do krogan and hanar.  The thing with turians though - in armour they have very anthropomorphised features - long legs and arms muscular looking chests, reasonable height, these things are empirically attractive.  The giveaway is their faces, hands and feet.

I doubt my (or many here) attraction would extend to a 'real life' version of turians, we are not biologically programmed to be be sexually attracted to anything but our own species, but there are exceptions.

As for Tali, again aside from the hands, feet and legs, she effectively has the body shape of a human female, something empirically attractive.

The majority of peoples attraction to these two characters is mainly personality/character based with a smidgeon of physical attraction (likely geared to the more human like attributes of those two species.)

The man has curves in all the right places.. that tiny waist? Them long fingers? A gorgeous fringe with equally beautiful eyes?

Ok, maybe it doesn't always start out as a physical attraction thing but it's kinda like when Garrus says he doesn't find humans attractive but is willing to give things a chance with Shepard. And then he makes the comment about supportive her waist is and realises maybe she's attractive after all. That's kind of how I feel about his appearance, it was interesting to look at at first and as a character his personality and what not is certainly attractive but as time goes on.. you start to notice just how long and strong his body is. But I know I'm in the minority when it comes to finding turians visually and culturally appealing.

Beauty is generally more than skin deep, as they say, however, and looks a little different to everyone.

There's nothing wrong with anyone for finding turians or any non-human attractive, it just means their tastes are different than yours.

If she did have tentacles on her face, im sure it would only be the HARDCORE talimancers who would stick with her.  Pulling the excuse that its who she is that matters, not what she is.  Though i would like to see poll in whether talimancers do or do not care what is underneth her armor, and whether her actual appearence would affect there status as talimancers.
