The majority of peoples attraction to these two characters is mainly personality/character based with a smidgeon of physical attraction (likely geared to the more human like attributes of those two species.)

I'm not so sure. Perhaps with Garrus it is based more on personality. But I think the driving force behind the fan demand for a Tali romance was 'dem hips.'

Well in their defense.. they don't know what Tali actually looks like so she can fulfill any number of visual fantasies. Which probably also says a lot about her fanbase.

But you can't assume all Talimancers are male and all..Garrusmancers? Is that what we're called?..are female.. nor can you fall into the trap of over-generalisation of "Women prefer personality and men prefer something good to look at".

Tali? She's got a woman's body, and an accent, and hides her face so you don't have to bother with stuff like kissing and just get the goods from the start?

Garrus? Women like men with a swimmers build? The voice? I stand by that some women just like broken men plain and simple.

What Leonia said. I am a Garrusmancer and a Talimancer, but I can't speak for all Talimancers, and certainly not for all female Talimancers, but it's her character I love. 'Dem hips' are quite nice too :-)

On physical features alone - it's the humans I find most attractive in the series. Jacob and Miranda I find the most physically appealing.

For me it was the personality. I never did garrus romance(I am a guy). As for tali, I always liked that voice but its not the reason I liked her. That personality wins for me. Hell I didn't even notice dem hips untill I romanced her.

Tali has the nicest personality among the offered LI's...My Shep remains single, as he feels no attraction at all to the other possibilities and can't see a future between him and Tali, too many special needs and circumstances with Tali....Plus he would prefer human.

Garrus...as a woman, I can say for sure, it's that voice, height and personaltiy....he is full of Awesome...

Garrus Brokarian is a boss. ****es love bosses. And dat gravely voice makes ****** quiver everywhere. I don't know why some women like Garrus physically, but to each their own...I think it's largely due to personality. An attractive person whose a **** is a hell of a lot uglier than a fugly fuzz beast who is the funniest and best person to be around ever (example)...Just like how hunger makes everything taste good, personality makes anything look good...


In terms of physical appearances, Tali has dem hips. But I was more attracted to Tali due to several reasons and not just one. It's the package deal of personality, accent, backstory, hips, mystery, and the fact that she had that closet longing for Shepard.

Plus, she was one of my favorite characters in ME1, both in terms of gameplay (and outside of her god-like shield capacity, that tends to happen when 90% of enemies you face are synthetic) and her as a person. The whole quarian encyclopedia thing didn't bother me (besides what else is a person whose been stuck on a ship her whole life supposed to talk about?)..also, every alien except Garrus was an encyclopedia for their species......I also find intelligence EXTREMELY attractive (and engineers tend to be smart, last time I checked)...

and I have a glasses fetish...and her visor is like one giant pair of sunglasses to me...

and my favorite color is purple....

and she uses my favorite weapon: SHOTGUNS

and she names her combat drone :3

Well, it's all pixels, so the imagination is going to be involved regardless. And the alien love interests are all fairly anthropomorphic anyway. So it's not really much of a stretch.

For example, when people draw Tali's face, they make her look good in human terms, basically, but with a bit of an exotic twist.

I think it's because what little we know about quarian faces suggest it's practically Night Elves in Space.....(both the descriptions in the novels and their placeholder faces)

I hope they make her look as alien as possible (because guess what, people........she's an alien)

but I don't want to derail this into ANOTHER Tali face thread...sorry

There are people in real life who have romantic/sexual attraction to animals, plants, even inanimate objects. So yes, I'm sure there would be people attracted to them.

As to your original question, Tali is my undisputed favourite of the ME love interests so far, and her personality is what attracts me to her. If there was another human squadmate with exactly the same personality as Tali on board, would I be attracted to her over Tali? That's hard to say. Attraction is a very murky issue with dozens of factors (including some which are subconscious) involved.

Your not the only one who ive heard who romances Tali mainly because of her personality, however this topic is not about those people, but about those who do it because of the shape of her body.

In that case, why not include Jack since you can't really see her lower body figure through those think baggy pants and her chest is as flat a 5 year old? Tali's figure is more feminine than Jack. You're out of you mind if you think her figure is soooo alien and different than a human's that atration constitutes a weird fetish. Whoopty-do, she has two toes and curves shins. She beats Samara's flat pancake butt and rock hard cheap breast implant look or benezia's corpse blue liver spotted boobs anyday.

Tali looks more feminine than Miranda depending on the outfit,

She has more curves - period.  JAck, imo, has a prettier face than Miranda or Samara. I like thick lips. However, if you think breats aren't a defining characterist of the feminine aesthetic, then you are in denial. Rather larger is always better is another story. The point is that there is a bigger divide between, say, Miranda and Jack than, say, Kelly and Tali. Tali's figure is practically human are all respect.

Hips, she has the widest hips. I'm sure both Miranda and Samara beat Tali in the fatty chest deposits area
