Am I the only one who actually wants the series to end?

As in, having ME3 be the final entry into the series, sans possibly another novel or comic series. I think I'd prefer the team to start working on an entirely new universe, or one they haven't worked on (in a while).

I actually feel the same. After a while, you just want things to reach their zenith and just stay there...

I'm not opposed to something further down the line. Maybe save it for next-gen hardware. Mass Effect definitely needs some time to settle or IP fatigue will set in.

Of course, EA won't let that happen. They're going to ride this **** into the ground, then dig it up for sloppy seconds.

I'm content with three games. If they can put out more high quality ME game then more power to them, if not then at least I have my 3.

I want this trilogy to end but not the universe, they have barely touched the possilbities of a sci fi universe, the more the better.

I'm happy either way. The two books I read were terrible so I won't be bothering with any more of those. But another Mass Effect game is definitely something I would buy. Would much prefer that it NOT be a disgusting prequel though.

I am a huge Halo fan, and as much as I'm looking forward to Halo 4,it shouldn't have ever been made, I don't want that to happen to ME...but I suppose Halo may be a special case.

ME has a deep enough universe to have many games/books/media made from it, but everything needs a break, as marsh said,no need to milk it til it's dry..

I agree with this actually. After seeing the ending of ME2, of which I thought was very well done for the impending war to come, I don't know how one would be able to build on that after ME3 and still keep the story gripping. I also hope they don't do a prequel or prequel series, because they seem not to fare well, even in movies. I thought SW Eps 1 ,2 and 3, were jarring, though I liked 3.

It is also one reason, why as a prequel, Halo: Reach failed for me. End the series after this, please!

I personally would want Bioware to at least end Shepard's story. As stated by ShotgunofHarl, I'm also content with the 3 games.

I can see them doing spin offs on other hardware, such as phones or portable devices in the future, but for Shepard's story at least, I hope it ends with the trilogy.

My main interest in Mass Effect has always been about seeing my Shepard progress through the trilogy.  Once Shepards story is over I don't really find anything else all that compelling about the universe to make me want to continue with the series.

I think they could pull of a story within the Shepard timeline ala ODST,except not dreadfully short.

Halo 3 "We end the fight -whenever that date was-"

OH hey, We ended the fight, but let's continue with Halo 4!

The thing about ME, is that it does have a rich and deep universe, that it would be able to achieve success with other forms of media, which I hope they do continue.

While I hope to see more games in the ME universe, I will be looking forward to the end of Shepard's story and the Reapers.

It is. That's pretty much set in stone by now. Seems like ME3 will conclusively end Shepard's involvemend with the setting, at least as an active agent in the world. Conclude from that what you will. *cough*Matrix3ending*cough*

I agree. I think Mass Effect should end with number 3. It would be a lot more memorable that way.

It is kind of sad when a great title gets picked up by a huge company like EA or activision, they tend to just take what was an awesome series and then milk it dry...I'm dreading whatever Bungie comes up with out of the Activision dungeon

I don't mind seeing more games in the ME universe - but without Shepard, without any NPCs from these storylines, maybe a hundred - or few hundred years into the future.

But it doesn't need to be a huge time jump - there's so many stories that could be told without referencing Shepard or his/her NPCs even once.

Mmm... I have mixed feelings on this. I think after 3, ME should be left alone for a while, but if TOR succeeds, then I would love to see ME become an MMO, or at least a game where we can play as any race... well, most races, anyway. But if that's 5 years down the line, I'm okay with that.

I want to see more of this universe. It's a fleshed out space opera with interesting aliens, complicated politics and a rich, barely-tapped history to explore.

It would be a shame to let that go to waste after a trilogy of games.

I hope so, but there's always a possiblity of Shepard still showing up as Cameo or some other form in future titles.  Not saying it'll happen, but the possibility is there.

I loved the Matrix 3 ending, but that's not relevant to the topic ;)

I'd like to see it end.

If there are plans to continue the Reaper story after ME3, then I'm wondering what the point of ME3 actually is.

I definitely think a break is necessary under any circumstances - 2-3 years perhaps?

Mass Effect isn't Mass Effect without the Reapers and Shepard. I rather the ME team start something completely new.

Throwing the universe aside would be a huge waste in my opinion. A new entry with new characters and a new plot, but tossing the entire IP sounds pretty foolish to me.
