Am I the only one who actually wants the series to end?

I'd like an MMO set in the ME universe. I mean Shepard is badass, no doubt about it.

But imagine how much cooler it'd be if your PC were Turian?

I am a huge Halo fan, and as much as I'm looking forward to Halo 4,it shouldn't have ever been made, I don't want that to happen to ME...but I suppose Halo may be a special case.

ME has a deep enough universe to have many games/books/media made from it, but everything needs a break, as marsh said,no need to milk it til it's dry..

you spoke my mind!  halo 4 should not have happend but yet I can't get enough halo! I think ME should stop after 3. maybe after the new generation of game systems come out the can do a reboot like medal of honor.

You're not the only one. The last thing I want to see is Bioware becoming another Blizzard. Doomed to be stuck with the same three labels for all eternity.

Did they ever announce the new IP they're supposedly working on, or was that quietly forgotten?

They've already said they'll continue the series but not with shepard, which is fine with me.

The only way I would support a continuing Mass Effect series is if they take it far into the future. Like 200+ years. NOT the past and not directly after Mass Effect 3.

Sure. All good things must come to an end. I'd rather it end and be done then keep going and end because it sucks.

This.

I would be really annoyed if they made it into a MMO, though, since, imo, the ME-scenario doesn´t really lend itself to that.

I'd love to see them take the next year and rebuild the first two games with the ME3 engine and mechanics, then release a "Mass Effect Trilogy Edition" where you could play through all three stories as a single game with a single rules set. Then when the new Consoles start dropping in 2014 or so, be ready to go with ME4 as a launch title on the new XBox and PlayStation, as the start of a new Trilogy, with a new Protagonist and new main characters. What I hope they don't do is go backwards and do something like the First Contact War. I want to see what comes after the Reapers. History should stay that way.

The other option, of course, is an MMO, but that's at least six years off, because they typically take that long to develop, start to launch.

It's called Titan, no one knows anything about it, but apparently the entire Warcraft forum believes that it will be like Warcraft and the entire classic development team is working on it and it's being funded by Warcraft's subscription while Warcraft "dies" for the billionth time.

I would really like for them to visit the Rachni wars and Krogan Rebellions in a novel or (maybe) a game or two. If they launched into the future a few decades or a century then I'd be fine with that but their is still a lot of lore that can be dealt with.

Nope. The real killer is the playerbase, but they would rather blame Blizzard for it.

Do not be stupid, ME sells and as a business BW are not going to throw away their cashcow, EA wouldnt let them anyway.

Expect more ME stuff coming, maybe not Shepard, maybe even a while away but more ME related garbage will continue to be shoveled out just like Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate or ANY other successful franchise with a rabid following.

EA's going to milk this franchise until you're sick of it. Get ready for Mass Effect 4-6, the new trilogy.

^ Fair point. This is EA we're talking about. Hell, they might pull a Sims and rip Bioware of the franchise to make their own version of an ME game and pump out terrible expansions.

Why make an entire universe and use it for only 3 games and an odd assortment of comics and novels? It just doesn't make sense.

Exactly.
Much better to rape it to core and milk it for everything it's worth.

I'd be content with more novels, comics, and the like in the future before they work on the next big game.

If Star Wars is anything to go by, breaks can be good or bad but there's a lot of potential in this setting and the IP has lots of room to grow beyond the Shepard triology.

Yup because making more games in the Mass Effect universe automatically equates to that. <_<

It's the end of the trilogy, not the end of games set in the ME universe. They've said that, so I don't think you'll be getting your wish. And since I rather like this universe, I wish to see them make other games IF they can come up with additional stories that are interesting (and that have equally interesting companions).

I'm not opposed to something further down the line. Maybe save it for next-gen hardware. Mass Effect definitely needs some time to settle or IP fatigue will set in.

Of course, EA won't let that happen. They're going to ride this **** into the ground, then dig it up for sloppy seconds.

I like the idea of saving the next chapter of Mass Effect for next gen hardware.
Hope they read your post.
