I don't really want a fourth game. A prequel game maybe, but a sequel? No. After the Reapers are gone, let that victory soak in.

I mean, you'll have defeated a cycle that's gone on for eons. Any follow-up to that seriously lessens the impact.

True, you can't really beat the reaper story which they've been developing for the ME games. A prequel would come in nicely, though.

I wish that the team would leave Mass Effect for a while, there are so many RPGs they could develop, from an adventure set in the 1930s, to something in the wild west, or something in ancient Aztec mythology, Greek mythology or something new altogether.

Alternatively, I wouldn't mind them heading back to Jade Empire, a franchise that I think had a lot of potential and lore associated with it as well.

Well, while I agree with you there, I actually mean that the Reaper story that gripped the first three games would instantly be thrown out the window. All those lives lost, millions of years...and then everyone would forget about it because Rellik, Balak's son, has a ray gun that turns pigeons into stone.

I don't think whatever comes after will ever be as good as Shepard's story, not really, but I can't say I'd want the series to end. Think about it, ME3 has to be the most optimized version of the series. You could say it has just come to fruition, and you want to end it now? No way, man!

I find it disturbing how some people don't want to see a peaceful solution with the Reapers. I'm not saying it's possible, but if it's very well written (Shakespeare level) have no problem with it. Yes I like Matrix Revolutions. However, considering the Reapers character, goals and intentions I doubt it.

To OP: You certanly have a good point, many stories keep going way too long after they should have ended. That said I think there is potential to make new and better games and stories in the ME universe. But the story of Shepard and the reapers should definitely end with ME3 with no loose ends left.

I hope that Mass Effect remains to some extent with the end of Mass Effect three. Hopefully they will do something like Bethesda- they switched from TES to Fallout for several years, and have now switched back- to keep things fresh.

I could honestly do without the constant stream of (in my opinion not very good) comics and trashy novelty items though. They just ruin it for me.

If Knights of the Old republic is successful I would love to see a Mass Effect MMO in the future. By that point they would know what works and what doesn't.

I 100% absolutely disagree. In my eyes Mass Effect has the potential to be the new Star Trek/Star Wars and become one of the biggest Sci-Fi creations of all time. The universe has amazing depth, many appealing and varying races. There is just so much they could do with it in video game genre and things outside of video games. I hope they continue with onwards with the series and hopefully it wont be 4/5 years till we see the next game.

Unless they come up with some really good ideas for Mass Effect games after this.  

Of course I want it to keep going; but I don't want it to be ruined or dragged on beyond all purpose, to just become a marketing gimick.  

Yeah... something good would be nice.

I would also like another Jade Empire.

While I'd absolutely love to return to the ME universe after ME3, perhaps now would be a good time for a break, and then hit the next console generation full force with a triumphant return of Mass Effect.

And since that'd leave a bunch of Bioware devs with nothing to do for a bit, I'd be damned ok with them spending the time on making a new Jade Empire.

I would like to see a spin off, or a prequel, but not an actual sequel. Let ME3 be the end of Shepards story.

Give the ME franchise a break for a short while after ME3. But I would definitley want to see how the galaxy looks after the Reapers are gone for good. I'd like to see the evolution of the different species and the discovery of new ones. I especially would like to see where the humans are at 1,000 years after ME3.
