Am I the only one who actually wants the series to end?

I'm curious to see if it could get any worse.
I hope they build on Mass Effect's universe/lore. However I don't want it to be pumped out assembly line fasion like Call of Duty and EA sport titles.

lol "complete disaster" ME 2 did just fine thank you. I want to see more Mass Effect games of course. I would also like to see but probably never will a KOTOR 3 (not the mmo which I am sure will be good) but a real single player KOTOR game. I want to know what happened to Revan and the Exile.

I'm not opposed to something further down the line. Maybe save it for next-gen hardware. Mass Effect definitely needs some time to settle or IP fatigue will set in.
Of course, EA won't let that happen. They're going to ride this **** into the ground, then dig it up for sloppy seconds.
I usually disagree with you on your opinions, but not this time...

It would be kind of lame if they started ME4 with talk of new race even older then the Reapers if you keep going from threat to threat after awhile it starts to lose all meaning. This in my opinion is the big problem with the Star Wars novels any more I just stopped caring.

I hope they end Shepard's story after this at least but I wouldn't mind more games in the ME universe. The only problem is I don't know where you go from here. You just had a massive Reaper invasion that threatened the whole galaxy it's kind of hard to top that.

Personally I believe the next ME series should go in the opposite direction to Shepards' trilogy, have a more humane and flawed protagonist. Someone whose decisions are not always validated. Maybe he or she is stopping a violent separatists group from causing war against council colonies?

I think that, unfortunately, we'll see another 2 games, first of them barely playable.

Shepard's story can end. ME Universe cannot. They can make a trilogy out of Anderson's story. The story in the books are amazing and the games should explore them next. It can even go into the first contact war with the Illusive man. The comics for him were amazing as well. Then they can make a Multiplayer game as a separate thing. Then there is the MMO they spoke about.

Mass Effect is not Harry Potter. The whole universe does not revolve around him.

Who do you think the main character of the Mass Effect Universe is?
It's Shepard... by a wide margin

Just because the universe continues, doesn't mean the same story continues. They could easily have fantastic games in the future revolving around just exploration. Opening up new relays and discovering what's on the other side. You don't need big, epic scale events to make the series remain interesting.
Unless you lack imagination, I guess.

He's the main character for the Reaper Trilogy. The Universe did go on without him for two years.
In fact, we have several novels, comics and a cellphone game to prove it.
It's been stated that by Hudson himself that this game will be the last chapter in the Commander Shepard story arc.

Okay... so are you trying to argue that another character (perhaps from a novel or cellphone game) is more important to mass effect than shepard?
Also, I feel like there is plenty of content for 3 more games with Shep. Think about it -- after two games, we know very little about the main antagonist (reapers) of the series. We don't know how long they've been around, their motives, their homeworld (there could be others not in dark space), or much about their physical composition, among other things. Sure, some, if not all, of this stuff will be revealed in ME3, but I think that there is enough info there for a great game developer to create another trilogy with shepard and his team.

Anderson, Saren and Nihilus in the early years, Garrus during his time as Archangel, Liara working for the Shadow Broker, Legion for the sake of awesome, hell even Soveriegn all have stories worth telling as well as coutless more. We know enough about the Reapers to kill them. We don't need to know anything else outside of who created them and are the creators still alive.

I wonder how they'd create a story *after* ME3 with all the choices and impact Shepard has made the in the 3 games, would they continue importing decisions like they are now or would they settle for creating a canon for their universe to make it easier...
Prob like importing the world over instead of the character. That or it could be Shepard's kids several years later as they enter the Alliance, etc. They can do stories about the world around them. This could be them fighting crime as a soldier, a spector, etc. It's not like all crime will stop forever after this war ends. Heck we could find out who made the reapers or something crazy. Maybe they were built like the Geth were made by the Quarians and they got out of hand and killed their creator. Or maybe their creator sent them? We can follow someone completely unrelated.
Heck they can even make a horror game out of the ME universe. Think Dead Space 2 but ME. A tale that follows a planet filled with nothing but husk and a few lone survivors trying to escape the planet. Only 1 ship left that wasnt destroyed in the reaper take over and it's across the world/ city etc. Planet not as advance as places in council space/ most technology is dead after emp blast or something, etc. Some of the people in the world that werent turned into husk have now gone mad and are trying to kill you as well as take parts needed to make the ship work so you can leave. classic game cliche were nothing is ever easy.
I also have ideas for a MMO, but Bioware does as well. I also have Ideas for a fighter and Adventure game. It's not like they dont have options. I could make them up easily, so Im sure they can.

I do like the suggestion of Obsidians making one last game, though, as that one would be guaranteed to feel "fresh" compared to the trilogy we'll have by then.
