Am I the only one who actually wants the series to end?

IMO Mass Effect Universe should end with the third part. Moreover, there should not be a possibility to do more things after the ending (like it was in ME2).

I think the main problem with ME is that it's focused on fighting Reapers. MMO would be a terrible decision: if it takes place after ME3, Reapers will be gone and there would be no enemy like them to fight (or we failed, Reapers won, and there's no race to play). If it takes place before ME3, Reapers would be unknown and human race would be too young as space race (notice how many years before ME1 asari discovered The Citadel). Besides, I don't want ME Universe to be so exploited like WoW (I was really disappointed that most of the evil characters from Warcraft Universe were destroyed). Comparing it to Star Wars or Star Trek - if I'm right, there's no big threat like very old civilization that annihilates all races in Milky Way every 50000 years.

Or maybe we will get a game where we can play as Protheans? xD

I wish I could play Mass Effect series as a turian. :(

//Sorry, for my English :P

As in, having ME3 be the final entry into the series, sans possibly another novel or comic series. I think I'd prefer the team to start working on an entirely new universe, or one they haven't worked on (in a while).

If the story and RPG leveling elements are good then they can keep going till i'm 80....

PS. Skyrim is going to be very good, i'll have more fun playing that instead of ME 2.3

I want Shepard's story to end... yes.

However BioWare has created an incredible universe... something that more than likely will be remembered throughout history.

Yes there is the fear of Episode 1, 2, and 3 (btw Revenge of the Sith was not bad it was not of the calliber of 4, 5, and 6 but not bad) However I would not mind if there were spin off stories to be told.

Different characters, different struggles, all based on the same universe. It would have to be a really great story though. I dont exactly know where you go from a theme such as Reapers. It would be a shame to just let the entire universe to be forgotten once Shepard is gone.

On the other hand I dont think anythying would be better as a story telling element that would allow the ME universe to continue. Maybe it is an honor to let the series come to a close after Shep is done.

Right now I cant think of a story line that would do well afterwards. The only thing I would play after ME3 would have to be a BioWare - Rockstar collaboration... Mass Effect: GTA. My god that sounds so bad yet so much fun at the same time... kinda like hanging out with the fat guy from Superbad.

In the end I have decided ..... let it end. Go out on a good note and while you are ahead. Let the Japaneese game developers keep kicking dead horses. Dont be like them BioWare.

I think Shepard's story should end for sure but they could easily move on to new characters for a new story in that setting.

I don't really care what happens after ME3.

If they decide to let it go that's fine. If they decide to make another great game, that's good.

Imho, I think it shouldn't be continued. It's true the ME Universe is astoundingly huge and awesome, but the antagonist(s) should be something far greater than in ME1-3. For a spin-off to reach the same scope and conflict presented in ME1-3 there must be a bigger threat to the galaxy than the Reapers, and I doubt something more dangerous than a single Reaper, let alone the hundreds we'll be fighting in ME3, can be created. And obviously it's Shepard's end in ME, for sure. If they bring him back for a ME4, I would not buy the game unless the story is able to give me a heart attack.

edit: Just sayin'.

After ME3 I'd like another title set in the Mass effect universe with the same 6 classes that features online pvp gameplay.

I'm all for ME3 to be the last installment. I have enjoyed these games so bloody much and sometimes I feel that I breathe, eat and sleep with Mass Effect on my mind. However, like all great things, I believe it's time for this show to end. The reason being, for the most part, is that there is a risk that the quality and draw of this game will diminish and more installments will be of sub-par quality. I'd rather see the games end in a blaze of greatness rather than a slow death, sinking into mediocrity.

The problem is exactly on how ME will end.

Considering they will want to make sequels. I have two possible scenarios I would accept for "ME4":

1- Reapers' victory: their cycle continues and we will watch new species rise and fight the Reapers;
2- Reapers' defeat: the current galaxy races continue living, but it turns out there is something even bigger than the Reapers.

I suppose prequels would work just fine, but anything els would feel like something less important.

... ME3 might be the last game starring Commander Shepard ...

But ... listen up Bioware ... please make it ONE HELL OF A GAME!

I want to continue playing as the unstoppable juggernaut AKA the Vanguard.

I want my melee omni-knife to have gory and messy (but realistic) finishing animations such as decapitations, splitting skulls, carving internal organs out ... USE YOUR IMAGINATION.

I want to kill hundreds of things every level.  I want anger and hatred of the Reapers to show on my Shepard.  I want exasperation. anxiety, and frustration to build on him in every scene where he is not actively fighting (E.G. ALL SCENES ON THE CITADEL).  I want BIG BOOMS ... as I completely gut the interior of Reapers.

I want to be running-and-gunning continuously with Garrus and [insert other companion's name here] by my side.  I want to kill, kill, kill, kill, kill while sending the Reapers into oblivion.

CHARGE, SHOTGUN-TO-FACE, CHARGE, GRENADE-TO-FACE, CHARGE (just in time to avoid the grenade), MELEE OMNI-KNIFE DECAPITATION, CHARGE, SHOTGUN-TO-FACE, CHARGE, SHOOT M-920 AT MOB, CHARGE, TRIGGER REAPER DESTRUCTION CUTSCENE

,,,

What can I say?  I love violence and killing!  At least in Mass Effect, where ALL my teammates are just as eager to kill as my Shepard is.  Bioware, please don't make ANY characters who don't love killing EVERYTHING THAT MOVES.  As they should, because otherwise the Reapers win.

Shepard's story should at end ME3, as planned.

But I wouldn't be opposed to a Mass Effect IV at some point down the line. There is plenty of room to explore new stories in the Mass Effect Universe, with new heroes and villiains. That being said I do think Bioware should take a break from Mass Effect following ME3. There should be a long enough pause between ME3 and ME IV that there won't be IP fatigue.

I agree with this person. The Mass Effect games are great, but I hope Bioware tries to move forward, instead of cash in.

I'd like the series to continue granted Shepard's story is done and they try changing the formula a bit.

Without the reapers and Shepard there is not much of a series left. Its just Sci-Fi and I get that in Star Wars.

Ether the reapers need to continue or Shepard does. Face it, its the lure of the incoming reaper war that is meat of the excitment. Having the main threat in Two games and NOT being able to fight them at all other then there plans(minus Sovereign) and that is the REAL lure for us.

The reapers are the most exciting villins in game history, and the final show down is imminent!

I'm in two minds, Definitely finish with Shep after 3.

Surely though, the ME universe is substantional enough to warrant other games? Why not entirely new genre's? It could accomodate SOO many different types: Space flight sim, FPS or hell, even a detective game a la LA NOIRE?

****, it's such a rich universe they cant just bin it after 3. While i would'nt want a yearly rehash of the same old crap, i definitely want more. Just do'nt wear it out BW!
