I've been wrestling with this for a while and finally figured something out. Apologies if this is already known, but I haven't seen it described elsewhere- the search function doesn't seem to work terrifically well either.

When signing into the social.bioware.com site, if you check the "Remember Me" box, you will have to sign in on every page you use, and it makes it impossible to use the forums at all, because posting simply returns the "You are not authorized" error, and signing in again just returns you to the blank new topic or reply form.

I have experienced this on Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and Windows 7 x86, all running Internet Explorer 8, fully patched. This is in standard mode, but the issue reproduces with IE in compat mode with the social.bioware.com site.

So I seem to be able to use the site without having to sign in on each page if I uncheck the "Remember Me" block. For what it's worth, I hope this helps others if they're having the issue, and if Bioware is tracking this, that it assists with resolving it.

Sounds to me more like a problem with your IE settings rather than the site.



What settings do you have in regards to cookie management at the moment?



Also, have you tried using the site through another browser such as firefox to determine the cause?

You can rely on the fact that I don't have any issues with my IE settings, especially given that I use this system continuously for most of every day, accessing multiple websites in the course of both my work and recreation. So far, I have not seen this issue with any site other than this one, and the issue reproduces across multiple systems, the only thing these systems having in common is using IE8.



I've seen other reports that people using IE8 are having signin troubles. I cannot be certain what the issue is, but I can say that it is exceedingly unlikely (albeit possible) that it is anything specific to my settings. Many others apparently have similar troubles, and if they were having problems like I was before turning off "Remember Me", they would not even be able to make or reply to any forum threads to report it.

The problem is with IE for sure but not specialized settings. If it first breaks, fixing it seems impossible. Most sites it never happens on (the old forum has never forgotten me) but I've been to a few where it did happen and the only thing one my end that has so far proven a reliable fix is a HDD format.

Two weeks ago or so, my problem here fixed itself over night. The past few days it has started occuring again but far less frequently.
