I'll get on that the second you stop caring so much about what I do.

And I'd love to use another word, but sadly, this forum attempts to be more civilized than it really is in a really pathetic and delusional way by having a censor system.

Punishing someone who isn't actually guilty of anything is just murder, whatever high rhetoric you try to use to justify it.

Except that she has all the memories of her mother which participated in the Rachni Wars and tried to destroy the galaxy not too long ago, now she's pleading for her life and saying her ancestors were under control. People will say anything at gun point to justify saving their lives and you're going to trust the beast who has the memories of how everybody absolutely love Rachni?

If you let it go, it turns around and kills thousands of people... would that be justified? Would you point and say "That isn't my fault, she told me she was innocent. I'm not to blame for those deaths"?

She doesn't have to TELL me she's innocent. She is. She hasn't done anything yet. Again, you justify you crime by pointing to crimes she MIGHT commit, but hasn't. She MIGHT be telling the truth. All we KNOW, is that she personally hasn't done anything yet.

And yes, it means taking on the responsibility for what she does. But if you can't handle responsibility, you shouldn't have signed up. The REAL hard choices aren't the ones no one will point back at you on.

Exactly, that's why she dies.

Lets hope you never hold the lives of others in your hands. You have a twisted concept of what is right and wrong. Killing someone who hasn't DONE anything is wrong. Period. Everything and everyone has the ability to become dangerous down the road. Given what we know about the Rachni, it might be a necessary evil, but it's never the "right" thing to do.

Rachni cannot be treated like people, they are not like you and me.

Indeed, the Rachni are one of the few aliens that are..... alien. Most of the "aliens" in ME might as well be humans in costumes.

Based on what? She thinks, craves freedom the way I would, begs for her life the way I would. A different shape, but she and her kin still bleed when pricked.

Right, because pro-Paragon players are making all these "Paragons should suffer" threads in the first place.

No, I kill her to meet the requirements of the responsibility given to me.

You kill her in order to AVOID responsibility for what she might do. Fear in trumped-up clothing.

We don't. Stop whining that we should be punished and you won't hear from us again.

Innocent?  We don't know that for certain, but we'll just assume that the spider is innocent.
With that said, it's not giving in to fear, it's arriving at a logical decision that I think helps safeguard us and our allies.

Bloodlust is for Dragon Age.:P

The goes for you more than it does for him. I certainly don't want my life in your hands. You are liable to get me eaten by space bugs or elder machine gods all so you can say you "did the right thing". Screw you.

So wait... you are saying I WANT her to kill lots of people so I can be responsible for it?

I'm responsible for death, for the final destruction of her species. That isn't enough? I need to throw countless innocent lives on there as well? Why?

It is a right thing to do. It's more justified than wiping out a fire ant mound on somebody's lawn.

Sure, but even the lowliest animal craves survival. The difference here is exactly as Sebo said: the rachni are true aliens; their very nature as a hivemind species makes them incompatible with ours (or the rest of the galactic community, if you will).

Exactly.

It is not 'right' to kill someone because they have a potential to be a threat. Everyone has the potential to be a threat.

That's like saying all the Germans and Japanese should have been wiped out after WWII because they might one day be a threat again. If you used that logic, you'd be put into a psychiatric ward.

We do know for certain that she's been in a cage her whole life, and hasn't done anything wrong- ie innocent. And killing someone for something they haven't done yet is calculating, not logical. There's a difference.

I'm sorry, do you have a point besides being a incredibly sad little loser who has nothing better to do than to throw petty insults at me?

No? Too bad.

Since no one else is really responding to this, Alpha Protocol had too many choices, at least in the ending.

Many? Yes. Too much? No.

At least not until you try to categorize all the possibilities from a metagaming perspective, then it does indeed become somewhat difficult to keep track of everything.

You don't know what will happen. She might be telling the truth, she might not. You are responsible whatever happens. You avoid responsibility by simply killing her while telling yourself about the body count you've avoided. But the only actual body is the one you left in the cage. And you are the only murderer in the room.

If the government had that ideology, we'd have to send at least one child of every family to their deaths based on the statistic that some of them might become serial killers.

It's quite logical to assume that the Queen can be the precursor to a future Rachni army.   It's also logical to assume that the possibility exists that this army may indeed be hostile like it was before, and start another war.  We know now that this isn't the case, but that's meta-gaming.

He's just here to throw insults at me, though.

Case in point? Look how much he posted in here before I made a specific comment that he thought he could make fun of.
