First off I want to apologise because I know I'm posting in the wrong forum. But the Origins thread isnt as active as this one and I need help asap

Right, I'm playing as my mage in DA:Origins, I'm at Redcliff Castle and I want to release Jowan, My question is,
''Is it still possible to save Connor & Isolde If you release Jowan?'' :bandit:

And a follow up question. I'm playing on xbox and have heard rumors that you can't get the random encounter to launch(for releasing jowan) its bugged or something? IDK
''Does it work, or have I read the wrong info?''

Any help is greatly appreciated, thankyou.^_^

You can release Jowan from the prison and he'll return once you save Bann Tegan and the Arlessa. If you opt not to do the blood ritual and sacrifice Isolde to save Connor, you can either kill Connor, or return to the Circle of Magi and get their help (if you haven't done the quest for that, you'll have to do it before you can get the mage's help)

But dont they kill Jown If he returns? I though if you released him and told him to leave you could find him later in a random encounter. And who mentions getting help form the circle If Jowan isnt there? (Im horrible at explaining I know. >.<'')
My preferred route would be,
- Release Jowan
- Go get help from circle
- Everyone lives (huzzah!)

Is that possible?

Morrigans advice you to go to the circle, but you have to go to camp first - I think. At least I had to go to the camp.

Also you need to tell Jowan that you never want to see him again when you realese him or he will return to help.

If Alistair is in your party at Redcliffe castle, he'll suggest going to the Circle of Magi to get some lyrium, I think. And you can release Jowan....if you don't tell him to leave, he'll come back...

Nah Alistar didn't say anything in my playthrough. He just advise that I talked to some mage which apparently meant talking to Morrigan in camp, because just going to the circle wasn't enough.

So, In the final room you find connor, he runs off, kill some possesed guards/teagan after that When all the characters are discussing what do do,(If jowan isnt there) what do you answer? To get the chance to go back to camp?

Just take wynne with you. When you meet him, leave Jowan in his cell (will also prevent dissaproval from pretty much everyone in your party apart from Morrigan) then go do redcliffe castle. Go and talk to isolde and when she asks about Jowan, say he's not trustworthy. At this point, Wynne will step in and pretty much say what Jowan would've said. Agree to get help from the Circle at this point. Go downstairs (preferably with only Morrigan in your party), release Jowan and say you never want to see him again. Go to the circle, ask irving for help and everything will go as planned. Jowan will be gone and you can save connor with the ritual. Naturally there's no blood magic involved so isolde will also survive.

ETA: If you're a mage, stalling the conversation long enough will bring up a dialogue option so you can tell about the ritual yourself as well instead of having Wynne say it.

Thankyou!  Spot on what I needed to know, I really appreciate the help :)

It's not the scene releasing Jowan which is bugged. As the posters above state, it is perfectly possible to release Jowan and have someone else (Morrign or Wynne) suggest going to the circle for help with Connor instead.

However, if Jowan is released then there was supposed to be a follow-up random encounter where you find Jowan on the run. He is now in disguise and, having renounced blood magic, is working to help people escape the Blight. He and some random people are being attacked. After fighting off the attackers, you can expose him as a blood mage, or you can let him go under his new identity. It is this encounter which is bugged right up the wazoo.

I don't think anyone playing the vanilla game gets it under any circumstances. There is a patch for PC players which enables the encounter, but even then it is a bit touch and go as to whether it actually triggers, as I understand it.

i think its still possible to have Jowan dead, and no mage in the party and still have an option to go to the Circle for help
