Sooooooo women should open their legs when their wearing skirts because thats the manly way to do it? Oh right if its manly why is she wearing a skirt in the first place?
Give me a break I'm not asking for uber hip swaying like DA2 but some animations that sit them apart is far from asking too much.
Agreed. I think its more ironic that they DON'T have an answer to this response, though.

I mean, why would you spend more resources on two different sets of animations when you can just make one set that fits both genders?
And, for the record, bringing up that pic of woohoo-femShep is kind of a cheap shot. The dress was specifically designed for that one mission; making it a wearable uniform on the Normandy was almost certainly an afterthought, an "extra" for the fans, and the people who designed it obviously didn't consider how it would look in some animations outside of Kasumi's Stolen Memory.
I think the people who are advocating more "feminine" animations should be careful what they wish for; they may get a femShep who moves like a perky Hooters' waitress in the end. I know I'd be pretty put off if my femShep sat back with her legs glued together after a long, grueling mission. I mean, come on; how many women IRL sit with their legs squeezed together every time they sit down, other than when they're in a miniskirt?

There's a huge difference, though, between 0 degrees and 45 degrees.

If they put it up to community vote, femShep would in fact become a Hooters girl.Mr. MannlyMan wrote...

Yes, but HOW? Either a man OR woman has to then do the motion capture for Shepard -- and we're faced with the same problem of having a woman who walks like a man, or a man walks like a woman.
Having two specific animations would solve and fix everything ---

See, this is what pisses me off! People like you who automatically think "teh female animations = teh hooters derp"
Dear god! When was the last time any of you went outside and just looked at the rest of the world? You'd think that women are one of those things you read about. If the only thing that can come into your mind when you think of women is...

What most ME fans want is something akin to this:

Strong, charismatic, but gender specific / gender neutral animations for femShep.

I agree with most of this statement. However, I usually sit with my legs together. Sitting with your legs crossed isn’t good for your posture, so I rarely sit that way. Sitting with your legs together isn’t that difficult or uncomfortable. That doesn’t mean I don’t sit casually, but when I do it’s either in “Indian style”(not sure the proper term for that) or with my legs under me. I never sit like I am cracking a watermelon between my knees. Even after a grueling day.( I don’t kill Collectors, but I work with kids. Same thing) I am not saying women shouldn’t sit that way. I am just saying some women do sit with feminine flair( I use this term for better lack of one) and they don’t do so to paint their nails or talk about what episodes of Sex in the City is their favorite, they do so because they were raised to, want to, or find it more appealing/comfortable.
Edit: 100k-- that is exactly how I would love for femshep to sit. Just like Aria. Or Morinth. Remember sitting next to her on the couch and it looked so....awkward.

Man, woman, gorilla, Gollum... a person doing motion capture can make themselves look as gender neutral or as exaggerated as they want to. In fact, having one set of animations that work for both male and female Shepards would solve and fix everything... as creating two sets would actually create more problems than it would solve, both for the developers, and for any gamers who are bothered by the animations.
Edit: Not to say that I don't want some gender-specific animations. The problem is that many of these threads come off as fans just wanting "feminine" animations for femShep, and Bioware's interpretation of that could easily differ from what most people really want.

Doesn't exactly hinder my original point. I chose the old pic because it had girls from hooters in it. Incidently, they were also sitting in a crosslegged position, so I changed it.
My point remains strong, and unchallenged.
So who's the fool.
No, you misunderstand me. I'm talking about Tiger.

heh, that's alright. I should've been more clear. I actually was going to mention his name, but decided to go with that instead, for some reason. I'll clarify next time.

Most of ME1's animations were more-or-less gender neutral, weren't they?

Yes, ME1 animations are pretty much what everyone is clamoring for here, as opposed to ME2.

Just bring back the ME1 animations. That's a fair compromise. Both Shepards shared the same walk/run animations, but due to the size difference and the gender difference it created the illusion of a slightly more feminine femShep.
I support this, FWIW.
