We don't know necessarily if the universe is a mantopia....The most "advanced" (for sake of argument) race is the Asari and they represent a good portion of female humans.

But Shepard is still human and two of three backgrounds have strong links to Earth and its customs. Many human women we see in this game are typical girly girls who don't know how to use a gun and don't want to. But then there are those who kill for a living.

Of course, we get mixed cases like Miranda who is going to OD on femininity some day (besides her appearance, showing some stereotypical female traits), but still has a lot of tough girl action packed in her.

I take it many people here haven't played FemShep in Mass Effect 1 then? Her walking and running animations were not girly, nor were they the same as Male Shep's animations.

For the 100th time, this. ME1 had it perfectly balanced. Why BioWare decided to change it for the absolute worse remains one of the greatest unresolved mysteries of our lifetime.

I *really* hope they don't make these types of mistakes with ME3.

For the 100th time, in ME1 both Sheps had the same walking, running and sitting animation.

This. Dude Shep walked a bit like a lady and FemShep walked a bit like a dude.

Wasn't a big deal.

I noticed the walking and sitting animations and they really bothered me. Just because a woman is a soldier doesn't mean she should move like a man. I don't considered myself a girly girl but I still don't walk like a man.

I certainly like the fact that they haven't added more sex appeal to that aspect, as I couldn't possibly take her seriously if she wiggled her ass around while shooting up an army of geth. Her charms lie entirely elsewhere (more specifically, the brilliant voiceover).

Female Shepard shouldn't be a "femme fatale" or a "barbie" or a "butch" or a "tomboy". She should be reminiscient of your average Marine lady.

Whom are, in fact, woman.

Otherwise I think her masculine traits are fine. She's a soldier, not a flight attendant.

That is strongly debatable.

I believe the flight attendants job is to go around the air/spacecraft, helping needy passengers with their problems?

Exactly.

I personally have no gripe with her animations, but if she does the FemHawke sashay, I will not be pleased.

It becomes worse the more you notice it.

Femshep Gorillawalk = Femhawke Sashay

Both are equally... wrong. Look at her when she walks. Her hip movements defy skeletal structure, and her arms are way out at her sides like she is going to whip out double 6-Shooters and kill some 19th century bank robbers. It is a fitting animation for Legion, but not everyone else in the game.

Odd thing is, they did a second motion capture for the beginning scene of the game, and another for Jokers mission. Yet they did not make seperate animations anywhere else.

Also, where did that curve above her butt go?

In ME1 both Shepards held their head up high, which denoted confidence. In ME2 they both walk/run like a gorilla, hunched over possibly because someone thought it looked "badass." In ME3, I half expect Shepard to be dragging his/her knuckles across the floor, veins about to pop out of their necks and snarling and snapping at every person they encounter.

Actually, that might be kinda cool, but you get the point.

Ultimately, the best we can hope for is that it doesn't get any worse in ME3.

I pretend the poor running, walking, ect is only because shep is still recovering from her injuries. I really hope they fix that have m and fshep walk, run, sit, ect differently.

Sorry Natt I'm totally dying of laughter right now! Reminds me of this: www.youtube.com/watch but yeah I agree no more manly fshep movements.

Lol, you guys don't get it.

Femshep animations look ugly ( apparently masculine) because Maleshep animations also look ugly.

Maleshep looks like a husk, and femshep having the same animation means she will look pretty much the same.

It's this what makes femshep animation look like that.

In ME1, they had the same animations, but I havn't heard anybody complaining about it ( because they didn't look like husks). Just fix the damned animations in ME3 and everything will be fine.

I understand. But the way I see it, Meer and Hale put in a lot of time to individually voice both Shepards. The devs put in a lot of time modeling both Shepards. Is it really so awful as many seem to suggest that Shepard also get the same attention to detail be paid to rigging and meshing?

I don't want space-barbie--

Nobody is asking for space-barbie. We just want the two to have seperate skeletons and mo-cap-ers. Shepard is worth that attention to detail.

It's too expensive and time wasting--

You don't know this, so you can't make this comment. But you can ask for something different and hope the devs notice it.

Agreed.

The PC gender equality crap has gotten out of control. Men are men and women are women. They are not equal, they are biologically different and no amount of stupid feminism crap is going to change that.

Well, the genders are different, that doesn't mean they're not equally valuable. (don't be fooled by my avatar. I'm a man.)

I have to admit, I've never spent much time thinking about the walking animations. Sitting is another matter.
