It's a buggy feature.  It's supposed to make Shep look in the direction of the nearest interactive person/object.

Yep. Correctable by releasing the run / sprint button for just a split second (then you can press it again) - shep's head will then look ahead normally.

Though s/he will of course still continue to move like a gorilla... but that's to be expected.

Both sets of animations are retarded. Hopefully they will find a happy medium in ME3.

And I don't expect femShep to get a dress during a galactic war ... unless someone invites her to the USO dance.  :P

I'm fine with the way FemShep moves and fights, if you want your female character to move like on a cat walk and swing her hips like a fashion model you don't want to play a game where the main character is a bloody hardcore special ops soldier who kills people and saves the galaxy.
Female Shep moves efficiently, not girlishly.

Its replies like these who take the extreme examples which do my head in.

There are areas in which femsheps animations could do with some tinkering, just gotta be careful not to take it too far.

Yea this is pretty much the central point.  The animations can be tweaked to fit the character more.  Nobody wants Paris Shepard, but running in a dress and high heels around a dinner party was exceedingly stupid.

Oh, I knew that. I just wonder if they ever considered fixing that or considered it too minor to address. If they came out and said "We could fix it, but we would have to do x,y, and z." All I would say is "Okay! Loved the game all the same!" and play ME2 without ever acknowledging it again.

If they went and said they didn't consider it an issue, "Ah, understandable. Consider it a compliment, liked your game enough that was my few complaints."

She should have worn an official SUIT in the first place, not a dress.

Totally correct Hathur, I think we all know getting a rig for her wont happen. In which case she will essentially just use the rig of everyone else. So no one needs to worry about "girly" animations too much as they would be time consuming to create just for her. However small adjustments on out of place poses cant be that resource intensive? Ace brought up a good point about the heels as well, never really thought about that. It is a good example of how developers go about correcting these things at least.

Still polish I think is still very important and if neglected can look more then a little lazy and upsetting on those emotional scenes. There are more then a few examples. The arm clipping on LotSB and her body melding into the boxes when talking to Garrus are obvious pair.

I never had my femshep wear that dress once after Kasumi's mission... I just couldn't see any rhyme or reason as to why she would wear it aboard the ship.

It made some sense in context of Kasumi's mission... but back aboard the Normandy? Uhh.. no... I could not remotely fathom why Shepard would wear such inappropriate attire on the ship. For me the regular Cerberus outfit was sensible (the same clothing all the crew wore basically) and of course the formal uniform made sense. None of the others really seeme to fit (that includes the goofy brown-tattered clothing).

It would be like visiting the council (or some other dignitaries) in sweat pants and a tank top.... it's just, well, inappropriate.

(In my opinion) Separate male and female animations should only be applied very sparingly and in specific situations. It's definitely awkward to see FemShep stomping around in that dress during Stolen Memory, but that was really the only time I had an issue. And it's clear in some scenes that FemShep and MaleShep were just bodyswapped in the scene, so Femshep seems just a tad too short for what's going on (smooching it up with Liara in LotSB). Then I could see them just tweaking things to make it seem more natural-looking.

But, both Sheps are soldiers, first and foremost. FemShep doesn't (and shouldn't) move like a girl. She should move like a soldier.

I made the mistake of doing a NG+ from a LOTSB save.  Whoah!  Won't do that again.  I had my femshep wear the dress three times, Kasumi mission, Samara mission, and the LotSB "date."  The first two were undercover missions and the date was a "date".

In which case crimson not doing to much is their best course due to the multitude of opinions that this forum (and the fans) have. Better to have a "dont fix whats not broke" mentality. Yes she certainly needs some polish on clipping. But adding anything radically new and unique for her certainly wont work. The LotSB animation came as a direct result of the dress and that the only unique animation for her that im aware. Not everyone was a fan of that pose either!

Bioware have pretty much got it spot on anyway so I say to them just keep up what your doing! But if you see clipping do something about it! ^_^

I don't have much to say for this other than the fact that if I saw longer hair, I'd be upset. I have long hair myself, but whenever I was in uniform or doing physical training, I put my hair in a bun. That's the way it is. Having long hair is really impractical, especially if you're sticking your head in a helmet every day. It would be really unreleastic to have long, flowing haircuts.

She is, but she's a highly-trained and discipliined soldier. She's not going to sway her hips like Hawke would.

Training can only influence so much.  Femshep is a woman, and women have very obvious anatomical differences that affect how they move.

This. Being a soldier is more important than gender, but gender differences cannot be set aside.

You can't use being a soldier as an excuse for everything.

That's like saying FemShep has to pee standing up because she's a soldier and soldiers do that.

*horrible imagery*

What I'm saying is, if I had to choose between seeing my Shep walk a little more mannish while she's walking around the Citadel, or seeing her walk around hips all swaying and obviously giving off that "hey I'm a girl" vibe, I'd rather see her walking more like a man as she's all armored up. Unless they really do plan on making two separate appropriate sets of various animations for both genders, then yay, I'm all for that.

I simply can't fathom that the artists aren't bugged by it enough that it doesn't matter when people say it would screw up gender neutrality to... improve femshep's animations an such?

I do kind of see Shepard has the type of gal who walks a bit like a man, albeit, the spread legs is awkwardly not even what a female soldier would do.  It becomes painfully obvious she has manhips when sitting down.

Also the fact that her neck looks too long (unless in ME2 armor).  I really hope they're working on this.  It is a pretty significant oversight.  However difficult it may be for Bioware to work on it, it would be worth it I think.

Guldhun:  You're arguing against basic anatomical fact. http://www.3dscience...man_Anatomy.php

Also consider, erm, where babies come from.
