Seriously, femShep needs a tweak to her walk, as others have pointed out, but that's about it.  The problem is, will that be worth it to BW?  Probably not.  However Shepard will get new animations for ME3

We've always used a combination of gender-specific anims and shared ones. We have more specific anims to choose from in #ME3 - Casy Hudson https://twitter.com/...149104252035073

But, both Sheps are soldiers, first and foremost. FemShep doesn't (and shouldn't) move like a girl. She should move like a soldier.

Training can only influence so much.  Femshep is a woman, and women have very obvious anatomical differences that affect how they move.

And yes that's not really "walking" i know that. But a soldier is a soldier.

So you're trying to argue with basic facts of human anatomy?

Tell me please where there's a difference in walking. Because i'm not seeing it.

The walking in ME1 was much better and way more realistic regarding different genders than in ME2.

Hoping they go back to something similar for ME3.

Oh, and uhh...Guldhum?

You DO realize that you're examples of military women walking are women MARCHING, right?

If Shepard were marching everywhere he/she went, the game would be even more ridiculous in its animation issues.

Heh, I hate to break it to you, but those aren't soldiers. They are pretty models put into uniform to march in the parade. My wife is from China. She says they always do that.Image IPB

The problem with saying Shepard should be gender neutral is that that's simply an unrealistic thing to hope for. Both mShep and femShep have to be mo-capped by someone. If it's a man, then, regardless of how "gender neutral" he tries to act, his natural skeleton will dictate subtle mannerisms that simply cannot be avoided. Same goes for femShep.

I think they should just give mShep male motion capture, and femShep female motion capture. It's not going to turn him into a gorilla, or her into a princess. It'll just be there to fix the awful rigging problem in ME2, and create more organic looking movements for both sexes.

Couple of tweets I think are relevant.  There are move animations in ME3, some of them are gender specific and his/her walking animation will be improved

Lots of new animations coming in for #ME3 for combat, movement, and character interactions.

Yes, we had a look at Shepard's sore shoulder and worked out the kinks for #ME3 :)

All of these woman were marching in formation, which is a bit different from a regular walk, but nevertheless, I caught a just a bit of a sway in a couple of them.

I support neutral animations.
To have special femenine animations for femShep just in ME3 will be very odd. Personally i take the way she moves as a part more of her personality by now

The characteristic female hip sway is very much discernable.  It may not be blatant, but it's there.  Anatomy is anatomy, physics is physics.

Thank God, cause Shepard looked like he/she was limping everywhere with a stick up the bum bum.

The difference of male and female motion are pretty subtle. It would be hard to not over-feminize the female animations without motion capture.

I have gotten used to how Femshep moves.  For continuity it would be silly if Shep started walking like a runway model, but even then I'd learn to accept it.  I think they need to figure ways to keep her walking/ moving in a fairly masculine way, but a way that makes sense for a woman's physical realities.

Just to clarify:

I would love to see femshep be slightly more feminine, but just slightly for me. If they add just the slightest sway, not a "look how sexy I am" kind of sway, but a "my hips are anatomically slightly wider so I can't really help this" kind of sway, I am all for that.

I just don't want to see her running around being some kind of sexy space babe, because she's a badass soldier and certified galaxy-saver. I was just syaing that if I had to pick between man-walk and super-sexy-space-babe walk, I'd go with the man walk.

ME1 FemShep movements were on point like others have said. FemShep didn't move like a soldier in ME2, she moved like an abominable snowman.

Its not like anyone's asking for

MaleShep walk=Marcus Fenix
FemShep walk=Bayonetta

What ME1 had was just fine.

Yep, this right here.

And this too.  For the record, the female soldier who came running by in the beginning of that vid wasn't hanging her head down either.  I hated that on both Shepards.

You would think that Bioware's testers would have noticed this. They probably did bring it up during development but the dev's most likely said it was not that big of a deal to change fem sheps animations because time is money and they probably did not want to spend more money fixing this issue. But yes, I do hope they fix this for ME3.

Hell. Yes.

We just need an animation style closer to Meryl's.

I agree, i wouldnt mind a little change, but i think i'm just too afraid that they mess up.

I believe ME1 was better compared to ME2 in this regard. At least she could actually dance

Thats marching, not walking.  Didymos is right, and you are wrong.  Women walk differently from men due to having a wider pelvis for the most part, and probably because they have proportionately longer legs than men as well.  Men have proportionately longer torsos than women, and longer arms.

The male skeleton is actually more efficient when it comes to movement than the female skeleton.

I wish the femshep face creator weren't so slanted towards making pretty, delicate, feminine model-faces.  It clashes terribly with Femsheps character, her voice and the manly way she walks.

A soldier is always marching. ALWAYS.
