I like how the argument is really between:

Shep should walk like a robot.

and

Shep shouldn't walk like a robot.

Because really, the mshep animations are pretty crappy too.

I think I read a Twitter response or something a while back stating that the animations for walking were being worked on and revised. I hope so. If you walk them slow, they walk with a limp. That isn’t normal, and neither is the strange head bobbing fit they both have when you begin running with them looking to the side. ME2 isn’t the original way either Shepard moved. They should bring back the movements from ME1. Both genders walk like broken robots in Mass Effect 2.

Funny, the only squadmate that has "fitting" animations is Legion.

I never got the head bobbing thing when you run in the Normandy. Maybe you're looking at crew members?

I don't mind the sitting thing since I never used the dress. I also sit like that in real life; to me, it's a very subconscious motion, hence why I don't wear skirts often.

Glad to read that walk/run animations are being worked on for ME3, though.

(ME2) Shepard is secretly Ace Ventura in disguise.

They both walked like gorillas in ME2; the problem is that FemShep had a smaller frame so the gorilla-walk looked even more ridiculous.

Not that I would ever see them, but I support slightly different animations for FemShep vs Shepard.

But I couldn't help but see this thread and think of something like this:
Garrus; That was a tough fight.
FemShep: Dammit!
Garrus: What, are you hit?
FemShep: No, I broke a nail when I deployed my omniblade again. I just had them done!

Hey, doesn't Saints Row let you pick walking animations? Or some game I've never played? I mean, it would make sense, no? One animation for "manly tomboy" femsheps, another for barbie femsheps, and one right in the middle. Of course, this would only be for walking/running I think. No need to have 6 mocaps for every scene.

Like, for example, I could see these 2 having different struts.

I picture you leafing through videos on YouPorn while trying to buid F!Sheps face in another window. How close was I?

Close enough, though add an angry wife for the realistic version.

Wife: Honey, I'm going to the grocery for- WTF!!!!

Me: Hey it's not what it looks like!

Wife: Jesus! In the middle of our living room?

Me: It's for research, I swear to God!!!

*Wife storms out.*

I'll send you the face codes when I get home. I'm warning you though, I'm on the xbox and am not great at the face creation thing.;)

No way in hell would my femShep wear a dress. I couldn't wait to get her out of that thing. I know I wouldn't be caught dead in the thing. The gorilla walk was too much, even in her coveralls and armor. BW really needs to send someone who works on gaits to a women's bar and study body language for the less feminine.

The leg crossing thing is more than a bit much. Yikes. I kind of pictured her like Ellen Ripley on Alien at her most feminine, but still a bit on the butch side. Still any woman knows how to sit in a skirt especially a dress that short. They needed to make her act very uncomfortable in it.

The dress was pretty bad though considering every single other woman at Hock's party was in a LONG dress. A major fashion faux pas. The gait and stuff should be keyed to her outfit.

But look at the bright side.... If they survive this thing, she'll probably have to put the old commando leathers on for her mate ever now and again, just to embarass the kids.

I personally find it fascinating how almost every female in the mass effect universe shows a bare minimum of skin, and definitely no leg. Seriously, like all of the background NPCs are in very "modest" clothing. Quite interesting.

I think she would have stashed that dress in the Saren statue and left it behind. lol. Especially if she took the "alternate" route into Hock's quarters. Can you imagine climbing up the side of a building and rocks with heels and that thing on? :?

I don't want to say something outrageous here...

But why not have a girl in the Marines do the motion capturing?

Christ alive. The dress that femShep wears is incredibly modest! It goes almost to her knees, and her bust isn't hurled at the players face. It's the kinda dress a woman could wear anywhere and be taken seriously.

Its just annoying how when she sits down, the dress spreads open.

Same.. I think I was maybe 12-14 years old the last time I wore a dress or skirt of any sort... haven't worn one in so long it would feel extremely foreign and awkward now. One of the reasons I'd never wear one now is the fact I don't like having to worry about composing myself appropriately all the time whenever I'm in one... tedious, annoying... got more interesting things to do.

Shotgun never mentioned "modesty." She/he/it said it was a fasion faux pas.

And it would be hard to take someone wearing a leather dress that goes to the knees seriously, when everyone else is in a dress that is floor-length.

Don't give Bioware any ideas.  It's just a matter of time before transexuality makes it's way into these games, just like homosexuality once did.

If anything, MaleShep needs a more masculine build if you ask me.  He could stand to gain a few inches to his height especially..

I thought people liked her because she opposed traditional femininity. There seems to be just as many calls for making her appear more masculine and muscle borne as this kind of proposition.

I think leave it gender neutral and we can say that Shepard basically has the dynamism of a marine. Should at least keep the complaints to a minimum from both sides.

The problem is that it isn't gender neutral, it's clearly masculine-looking. I'd honestly like to see a woman who walks with her arms out like that.
