Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum so I don't know if there is another topic like this but I've searched everywhere for it, though not new to DA. I want to make a shaman like character and I was wondering do you have any sugestions? I guess all primal spells would be in order and all healing ones... From specializations I'd guess Spirit Healer and the other one...?

Thnx! :)

Depends on your concept of a shaman. I envisage natural, animalistic magic, so Shapeshifter, really. There's an excellent spec in Awakenings called Keeper. Very 'at one with nature'.

I second Ferret, please describe what you mean by Shaman as I can think of over a dozen different interpretations and types of that character concept.

Please be as detailed as possible to what your looking for and want to play and I will be more then happy to suggest classes and talents to choose from to help meet that concept as close as possible,.

Well, to be honest, when I think of Shaman I think about WOW-like ones... Well, the core of it. Some things would have to be different. I thought about going Ice and Storm tree full and Earth 'till petrify... Fire I would go only 1 point.
I would go all heal tree... and, well that's the far i went. I would use Spirit Healer as my spec. I'm open for any suggestions and corrections. Hope I've been little more precised?

Ferret, isn't Shapeshifter kinda druid stuff?

Yes, it is druid-like. Imo, shapeshifter sucks. I know some Shaman deal in bloodwork, so I reccomend Spirit Healer and Blood Mage. The shamans I know are from African villages however, not WOW.

Primal and Creation trees will get you by just fine then.
I could ask for mor ein depth though as I play a Shaman in WoW and understand theres the Elemental, Enhancement and Restoration focus and each has its own playstyle.

In Dragon Age terms, I would go Spirit Healer/Arcane Warrior and you want to avoid Shapeshifter and Blood Mage. With a focus on Primal and Creation spells. This is kinda a Enhancement/Restoration Shaman style.  You can choose to wear heavier armors and melee weapons and shields but I would stay more of a caster with a staff though. In Awakening Keeper would be a nice addition to this setup.

Blood Mage would be ok for it. Spirit healer definitely though. Shapeshifter is pretty awful but it kinda fits the theme so whatever. I mean its not an un-viable strategy. Just...challenging?

if you want, go shapeshifter and spirit healer. focus more on healing soells with shapeshifter as your melee option. can also consider the hex line for debuff. depending if you prefer a more support style shaman or a damager shaman. damaging shaman will be mainly primal and nature spells. such as stinging swarm?
from a roleplay point of perspective, the supportive type will be much better. also shaman tends to buff up the army and call curse down on their enemies.
