I checked the mod thread and didn't see anything, but I figure someone must have done this.

In official 2e rules, you are allowed to wear a buckler with a bow or two handed weapon. There might be a penalty to attack rolls if you do, but I doubt that. Anyway, I would have thought that some other 2e purist would have created a mod for this. If not, what's a good starting point for making a mod of my own? Thanks.

I too have wanted this, and think I may have even mentioned it in the past ... albeit on the old forums of which we do not speak of any more. I think the actual concept is impossible to implement due to the engine's limitations.
Since we're on the matter, one thing I'd love to see is being able to stack darts and throwing daggers into your quiver. Duplicating them via a cheat to x100000 just isn't the same and isn't something I condone.

The game is hardcoded not to let you equip a two handed weapon with anything in the left hand weapon slot, you might get away with it by shifting bucklers to the bracers slot (well, they are strapped on the forearm).

The problem then is that the game will crash when it tries (and fails) to find an animation of someone using a two handed weapon with a shield. The only solution for this is to add a new animation overlay for the buckler (as Erephine did for flaming swords and attachable wings). Remember that you'll need to do this for each race with a unique avatar (humans, halflings, dwarves, gnomes and elves), which is a lot of work.

That's right! I totally remember now. Man, that's annoying.
