That's insane. There would always be conflict, even without religion. Of course 9/11 may not have happened, but other things would have.

I never said there wouldn't ever be conflict. There's conflict in everyday life. I'm just stating the fact that the world would be better of without it.

There is perhaps no wiser analogy to demonstrate my point of view on our species' current status. More and more I find it hard to believe that anyone actually cares for anyone else. Our history as a civilization is a sad chronicle of overindulgence and self-appointed authority, and I imagine it will continue to be for quite some time. Truthfully, the only thing keeping my faith in humanity is an optimistic vision of a promising future, and all the amazing people working towards that future.

EDIT:  This is in response to the OP. Seems like the thread has gone deeper into other topics by this point.

Whether or not Communism is atheist, Communism and Atheism have gone hand in hand far more often than not. Hell, the only Commie that I know of that did not try to destroy religion outright was Castro.  No god but the State!

If the fundamental premise of communism is that everyone is equal that makes it an atheist ideology, since when you factor different religions into the mix then everyone is obviously NOT equal.
