does anyone have this issue lately? i cant tell if its the new drivers that came out on aug 9th or my new video card, but check this out if you would please...
in my nvidia CP i always manually adjust my cards fan speed to keep the card cool. but on this new one, it seems bugged, the far left only says 44% (instead of 0%) and the far right only 77% (instead of 100%) plus part of the 44% font is missing??? so i put the slider at the middle mark hoping its enough.
i hear the fan kick up in speed and its ok. i play deus ex: human rev MAXED for hours on end with no issues, and many other GFX intensive games, but when i play DA2 and crank it, anout 10 min in, i CTD and i hear the fandrop back down to the default speed as soon as this happens???
i would think it could be a video card issue and maybe i need to send it back to falcon, but all my other games run fine. and i have seen this odd issue with the fan speed before as well and i dont know if its one of the random nvidia bugs that crops up every other driver update like other weird issues or if its hardware failure on the PC side...
sorry for the long post. please let me know if you guys are having any similar issues and how i could combat this. i'm really bummed right now. i bought this new PC for DA2 and cranking all the GFX options i couldnt on a vista machine with a geforce GTX260...
CTD on a brand new falcon NW talon... DA2 only.

I wish I could be of assistance, but the bad nVIDIA drivers finally just put me off so much, I haven't even used the last PC here that still has a Geforce in it for months, until I get another Radeon for that one.

As a fan control and monitor, you may want to look into MSI Afterburner, which is put out by the maker of MSI hardware and works extremely well in most cases. It allows you to monitor temps, fan speed(even in app), and overclock the card as well as adjusting the fan speeds. You don't have to do anything you don't want and it has a fairly simple interface.
What does your crash log say, and what op system are you running? If you are on Win7 was does the reliability manager say?? ==> Start/search "reliability" click the manager and it should pull up a listing of crashes and possible causes and reports.
Sadly, I basically went the way Gorath went, in when I bought a new card it was a HD6950 instead of Nvidea which I had been using since I started building comps in 2001. I hated the fight with drivers and while performance may be slightly better overall, I think AMD was doing a better overall job.

thanks for your help and opinions guys. i feel like a dinosaur anymore, the only reason i use nvidia is because i always have/laziness, and yes thats lame. its seems they try to put out driver updates WAY too often and half the time theyre bunk...?
@mcsupersport- sorry for lack of info, yeah im running win 7 64bit. in fact, i even went back to the older driver as stated by the sticky thread above and that keeps DA2 from crashing. thats at least helpful other than a loss of a little bit of the functionality of the newest driver updates.
but the fan speed UI is still showing artifacts. thanks for the heads up on the MSI afterburner, i'm going to look into that.
be well fellow forumites- e.h.

Unfortunately, NVIDIA has been giving itself a black eye when it comes to releasing drivers. With my next computer, I'm going with Radeon instead of NVIDIA just because of the driver issues.

As per the sticky message pinned near the top, the 270 and the 280 drivers seem to work for DAO and DA2, while 275 did not. For Mass Effect, most gamers have to run the 256 drivers.
This sort of thing has kept on happening ever since the GT200 generation came out 3 1/2 years ago, but got far worse just as the GTX400s were about to be released. It's been affecting the 7n00, 8n00, and 9n00 cards for three years plus, and for almost two years now, every other driver is causing problems for almost every gamer.

yeah, i kinda wished i would just try something new for a change... but anyways, the 275and 280 both crash and reset my fan speed while 270 doesnt as of now. hopefully they release a new driver thant wont crash something else, lol... otherwise i really am enjoying my Falcon PC.
