Bought a discount version of mass effect many months ago.
Decided to install it today, and find that the 1st dvd is not working.
So i read the forums, trying to find a way to get a download.
Contact support.
Which basically has no idea what i am talking about.
First they state that the version of the game i have, is unlicensed, which then turns out it's allright.
Then they ask for my key, and tells me it's not even used by their system, and blankly refusing to even help me figure out what is wrong.
And then is seems, that there are no way to get a digital download version.
Well thanks for the support guys... i'm really impressed...
So basically i'm stuck with 2 nice coasters, and a plastic cover... and no, taking it back to the retailer is out of the question as the store closed recently...
I could even provide pictures of the cover, dvd and the code... was basically told, sorry, can't help you.
*sigh*
Non helpful support

So basically you bought according to EA a bogus unlicensed unauthorized copy and as such they get nothing since it isn't a legal copy by their records and you are surprised they don't want to fix it??
I don't know who you bought from, or even if it is a real copy of the game, but it SOUNDS like you got taken by the seller more than EA. Maybe this is wrong and EA distributor screwed up, but wanting a publisher to fix something they seemingly(by their records) had nothing to do with is foolish.
Now, did you happen to enter the key wrong, recheck the letters and numbers carefully. Origins is rumored to allow ME1 to be dl'd if you enter the code, but I don't use it so can't say for sure.

actually it's EA's, it's just the US selling version, which is why they at first didn't recognize it...
But they have confirmed it's a true version... but they are refusing to help me in any way at all.. even though i have posted screens and the like of the code, box and all..
I have read the code, but they are not allowing you to enter codes from games before 2009 into origin... so that rumour is bogus... and has been confirmed by the support as not working.
also, they just plainly stated, they did not recognize the code, so they would not help me, even with all the legal stuff on my side and fulfilled...
not my problem they don't know all the different versions and codes they have produced...

1) What does it do when you try to install??
2) Have you retried EA.com support, because sometimes different techs help in different amounts. Some are pure garbage and others are pretty decent, so it may depend on which you get at the time.
3) What are your system specs?

^ EAagent post may be helpful, or not, but worth looking into.

1 : dvd is not being registerred by any drive i have on any computer i have...
2 : ea.com support is the one that's not helping. I'm guessing it's just the one i got that basically was garbage..
3 : my system specs are more than adequate, and can run the newest games easily.

anyways, sad to say, that a download of a dvd image, solved my problem. I am now playing without any troubles at all... and my code worked perfectly...
Loving the story so far...
This just goes to show that EA should up their game and let people use origin like steam is used...

There is a known issue, on the forums at least, with the value games edition disks. Usually it is a question I ask on install problems.
