Yup, game was on the hardest setting for NWN2 when I played it.  It was a fairly easy before I increased the party limit and a total cake walk after increasing the limit. This game doesn't really have a nightmare mode. And the hardest setting for the OC is much easier that the BG games, and not even in the same universe as the gold box games (anyone remember lightning reflecting off walls and toasting your whole party in one blast).

But that's the trend of games these days with a few exceptions like Demons Soul (which I've only heard of, never played). I find the Dragon Age games on hard are equivalent in difficulty to the old BG games. I imagine on nightmare it would be similar to the old gold box games. I don't have the time these days however to play with nightmare.

I respectfully disagree with you sir. I found this game on hardcore rules to be the same difficulty as Baldur's Gate 2 and the Icewind games. I never use cheats or ease-of-use mods so I'm facing these games exactly as the devs intended (except I did add cool custom character photos and voices in BG2 and the first Icewind Dale).

I think this game NWN2 is intended to be a fun adventure without the save & reload stress that 1st person shooters provide. If you want to play a game that makes your brain go through a workout, then play Kharkov: Disaster on the Dnepr by SSG. That battle plus the Budapest scenario in the patch really really makes you think deep and it is fun too if you don't lose too badly. Games like Civilization or COD leave you feeling numb in the head but the SSG games make you perky and alert cause they burn the carbon off your brain.

In NWN2, I'm finding most fights going my way without too much fuss but I did have some very tough times.

Maybe a very slight SPOILER but I don't think so but you may disagree (I will edit this if a problem)

Some fights like the hostage area, the storage area and the crypt really gave me a challenge. I had to redo the fights and figure out what spells and weapons would be best. The crypt was so hard that I had to regroup back at the bar, change the people, and go through everyone's spells to secure it.

My friend is back to playing NWN2 again. Seems he didn't finish the first time cause he got bored with his usual hack & slash fighter routine. I told him to turn up the difficulty and make a more interesting character like a monk or a magic user and now he's talking about replaying the game doing another boring fighter all over again. We have like totally opposite playing styles cause I like quirky unusual characters with versatility while he makes whatever wins the game the fastest and easiest way using a power gaming fighter. He's in a rut cause he'll get bored of a fighter and never make it to Mask of the Betrayer which is what he wants to port over into. I told him about the cool mods but that is like talking to a cold, uncaring cement wall.
