I agree. I would LOVE a mini-railgun to shoot and destroy things with.

I'd love to have one to play with sand... I'm surprised with your weird idea of what guns can be used to do.

Real Rail Guns pack a huge punch I've seen them in action, and something like that would be way to powerful for a hand weapon. The Rail Gun was more designed as a artillery weapon, and to be put on ships(Battleships/Destroyers not spaceships as of now).

Ish this true? I mean, I klixen mass accelerators and see the singularities to the Rael-gun. At this rate, fans are gonna make a Hackett here at BSN if they don't get a Rael-gun.

Rail Guns are plasma weapons you can make a gun that uses the same system as a Rail Gun thats smaller and more for hand use. Though it would be different, and not considered a Rail Gun. Like a cannon and a musket. It is actually is possible to make small hand use plasma gun right now(My 13 year old younger brother is building one for a science project), but they just aren't combat effective right now.

Who knows? Maybe in a hundred and seventy four years they might be combat effective. :bandit:

Um, no, they're not. They accelerate projectiles electromagnetically.  They do not utilize plasma in any fashion. It's simply a very short-lived byproduct of their operation.  Plasma weapons, in fact, don't currently exist.

Ok bad choice of words should have explained myself better. With a Rail Gun the metal projectile is super heated, and forms a plasma that surrounds the projectile, which gives it the bright color to it and leaves a trail of plasma. While it is not a true plasma weapon  it does have plasma elements to it which is why many people who I've met who work on building Rail Guns call it a plasma weapon.

PEPS are currently in research and are more likely to be produced in small enough sizes to be carried, a railgun would not be portable.

DEHR has a PEPS gun, but it's non-lethal, but jack up the energy high enough and it'll kill anything, infact i think it was called pulsed killing laser originally.
