I just dug through my music list and came across a 1977 (I think) version of the Soviet National Anthem (quite epic I might add); and it occured to me...a great marketing ploy to the people who love high action....

Picture this if you will.....



Russian News Stations all over the east broadcast a warning; telling civilians to enter bunkers that they have created for a possible World War III, they have just hours before the Reapers destroy their abilities to communicate so they have to act now. With Shepard "not around" and the "Alliance" busy getting their asses kicked by the "non-existant Reapers"; the Russians would mount their own defense using a personal Space Fleet they had (just in case). Not only that but they would be blaring their National Anthem while jumping in planes, jets, hellicopters, tanks, all the things we use today in modern warfare; of course it would be "ancient" to them kind of, but it would be VERY exciting to watch the Russians launch a full on assault against the Reapers and Husks using every last tool at their disposal..Ending the trailer with them starting to lose and fail; their Prime Minsiter (I believe...?) launches a final ditch effort by firing a bomb three times the power of the "Ivan" directly into a Reaper that's attacking the Capital of Russia (Moscow). The bomb would explode; killing millions of civilians as the Reaper either takes Zero Damage or Absolute Damage (that kind of weapon would probably destroy a Reaper or at least wound it on a massive scale).



I think it would get a lot of action fans motivated to play the game; though idealy I'd like to see more story / more polished A.I. rather than just action footage...

Ahh, I see. So what you're saying is something like a city/individual country of Earth trying to defend itself?

I like it, although the Russian/USSR anthem would be a bit too much.

I'd make it gritty, and intense. Show that it's a losing battle.

Actually Russia would be a great idea. But then maybe cut to China, England, USA, Brazil etc... to see how each nation deals with imminent invasion.

I figured Russia because they are the only real "super power" who would go to the extreme of using old-war relics in hopes of just blowing the Reapers up; not to mention they kind of had the balls to even use the Tsar Bomba (Ivan). No one else really wanted to go to the extremes that Russia did during weapons testing or any wars.

Yeah buuuuut this is the future. Russia may not be as "super" in that time. So it'd make more sense to cut to everyone.

I see what you're getting at, but I would think the Mass Effect Earth has more of a united poeple that aren't seperated by countries. I mean, yeah there are different human factions ( the Alliance, Cerberus) but I don't see Russia having different intel, or actions then the rest of the world (I could be wrong). But still, nice concept.

Well Earth is still divided in nation states.

Currently we know about United North American States( Canada, USA and Mexico), EU( unknown if all or not), People's Republic of China, India and Singapore.

Interesting idea OP thought something like the opening part of the trailer pans over a field of dead Alliance soilder which then it eventually levels to a landscape view of Reaper/husk army making short work of an Alliance army which are defending a group of large civilian transports it later changes into camera footage of a dead aliiance soilder showing a transport taking off it and pateroins jumping onto the hull and breaching it that same transport then lands on alliance soilders killing them, the footage then apperas to be watched by Shepard on his.her privite terminal and then Shepard then looks at the galaxy map with lost of red dots appearing on it

Cool idea would be....

A Statement voiced by Harbinger in total blackness regarding our defeat.

Then for the trailer to open with a faded in shot of a major Capitol city going from 0 - ruin in about 15 seconds. Cut away to a scene of mass panic with people scattering everywhere and people being trampled underfoot. Mass hysteria as buildings crumble around them. Flashes of light everywhere. Then a lone Police officer in the middle of the street appealing for calm. a moments silence - almost deafening. then.....

Wham!!! Reaper foot on his head - body splats everywhere.

Cut away to planetary devastation. Whole continents in flames. People being captured by the reapers and forced into vehicles at gunpoint. Shouting and gunfire everywhere. Parents killed in front of their children. Mass hysteria.

Cut again to London where a lone child looks up at the sky and preys for a miracle. The bodies of his parents and others lay around him. Slaughtered right in front of him. A moments pause before a Reaper slave brings the butt of his gun down on the child (camera view). The reaper slave turns and has its head blown off by an as yet unseen person. Enter the bloke from Big Ben through a smog as he picks off more reaper slaves, while saving the kid.

Is it possible that after hundreds of years and advanced technology we still are a DIC*S ? Russians ? WTF ? I expcet that in ME there will be one human nation. Nothing less.
Why ? Think about it. Russians, Americans and other nations fighting with each other and they want to work with aliens ? It's like every dam race in the game would get over 100 diplomats from earth, every one representing different nation and wanting some advanced technology for themselves.

If you ask me, If I would be an Alien and i would see this kind of stupidity we have on earth right now - I would nuke that peace of galactic crap.
