You realize that, in lore, biotics are more or less glass-canons who exhaust themselves in incredibly short order? And that mastery of biotics is a time-intensive training that comes at the cost of, well, other skills?
Gameplay both underplays the power of biotics (the Jack example), but radically boosts the endurance. In lore, biotics don't go around casting singularities or warp explosions every six seconds in the fight. Nor do they maintain biotic barriers for long periods of time.
Not to mention that distractions can tear their biotic attack apart.
Like a punch to the head or a stun gun/flashbang.
Distracting things, guns.

Ashley HATES aliens.
Yeah, that's a myth. She never says that, and if you send her with the salarians and save Kaidan, she'll give her life to get them off the AA tower. She also gets along just fine with the aliens on the Normandy in ME1, calls out Terra Firma if she's with you during that sidequest, and is decidedly NOT fond of Cerberus. But Saren definitely hated aliens, from well before he became a Spectre, so it's a spurious objection in any case.

Ashley dosen't hate aliens she's just a very independent person and feels that we shouldn't allow ourselves to become dependent on the council.

What about squadmates then? Or is Shepard the only Spectre in the galaxy with a team?

Spectres usually work alone so ya he may be the only one. Also not everyone reinstated their Spectre status. I was one of the few people who decided not to become a Spectre again.

Shepard needed a ship immediately after becoming a Spectre to pursue Saren. I'm assuming any Spectres with Shepard in 3 would be assigned to the Normandy or Shepard.

Alone or in groups of 2-3. It may very well be a joint Shepard/VS operation.

Jacob seems like a better candidate than either vs, given what he did before me2, all the vs has done so far is be on the same ship as shepard and get captured on horizon so unless they do something big I dont see why they get promoted.
Jacob hasn't really done much in skill level to be considered no better than Kaidan nor Ashley. Jacob stopped a terrorist attack with help. The VS fought with Shepard to save the galaxy. Jacob and the VS are basically equal in skill level. Hell Kaidan and jacob are likely equal in biotics.
And Shepard needed help in his pursuit of Saren. I'm sorry, but "needing help" is an odd point to make.
And in the arguement of who's more skilled, Jacob or VS. I'd have to go with Jacob since he was actually a member of the Alliance's Special Ops, therefore he had more experience than both Kaidan and Ashley.
That said characters like Jacob and Garrus, despite their achievements, will never be Spectres because they fell completely off the grid. I know when it comes to threads like this people love to whine saying "X character would be a better choice," but part of the process of being picked for a job is actually being present for the interview.

I'd like this. Maybe see Kaishley try to give a Kirrahe type speech before the battle.

That's actually what I am thinking as well. Well you could decide to take them with you or not in ME1, but on Horizon the VS just hid and waited for Shepard to save him/her. That was not really a Spectre worthy performance. Well but to the VS defense, Shep knew that Collectors were there, and Shep had Mordin's swarm shield.Slidell505 wrote...
Is stupid, all they did in ME1 was sit on the Normandy, and all they did in ME2 was get saved by Shepard.

No it's just reasonable that every species would think about their own kind first. If you had to sacrifice all but one species to defeat the Reapers, would you let humankind die?PrinceLionheart wrote...

*facepalm* how many times has this been said, it doesn't matter if you used them or not in ME 1, the game takes into account that all squadmates were present during the events that took place. As for Horizon, kind of hard to do anything when you've been paralyzed, specters are good but they are not perfect, there would of been no way for them to for see an attack like that.

I think I've pointed that out several times myself.
The storyline assumes that every squadmate was there for every event, not just the ones you had them in your own personal squad for.

Which is nationalism. I wasn't saying it was a bad thing, just that a lot of her ideologies are that of a nationalist.
