I am not against them being Spectres but the thing is no matter what people say their appointment has to be more Politically Motivated than their actual abilities and Experience.

The Alliance need's a Human Spectre and considering the Cluster**** Relationship between Shepard & The Alliance they chose The VS because of their blind loyalty and devotion.

And as I said I am not against their choice but I think the the Implications could be very Interesting because I say good for The VS good for them but no matter what they will never surpass Shepard in either Leadership or Abilities they are nothing compared to Shepard.

Shepard has killed 2 other Spectre's and it might become 3 in Mass Effect 3

Fair enough. But really his personality never really struck me as the type to be giving orders.

heh... never lost a person under his command before Eden prime... was a head of marine detachment of the normandy SR1, personaly selected by Anderson for the crew, reccomended that Ahsley was reassigned to the Normandy, something Anderon listend to, agreed with, AND implemented - over Shepard's wishes if need be.  made for a highly competent commander of one of the teams of salarian soldiers on virmire, despite of not working with them before (as did Ashley, actualy, if you chose her to go with them instead)

quiet and thoughtful =/=incapable of command and giving orders.

This. Unless she mentions her previous racism and tells me about how she has or hasn't changed then I don't care what she does.

I can handle her being racist as long as she admits it and doesn't try to question my orders.

Having a fancy title/rep doesn't mean that you have the abilities required to be a Spectre, though.

Ash and Kaidens biotics and tech potential was no less than Shepards.

End of Line.

Bad thing, they are your followers and haven't done anything to deserve it, i mean they haven't done half the things shepards done and besides tetris kaidan biotic potential isn't like shepards that's clearly stated in ME 1 and that was even before cerberus upgrades.

A soldier who can master any weapon, just like Shepard.

I forgot about that. Seems a bit contradictory, the only skill that made Shepard a better soldier or biotic was the points that he could spend on the spectre training bonus, but that wasn't until the council accepted him. The gameplay representation of Shepards superiority was handled better in ME2 I think. He had more guns and more powers which he could retrain at any time. It put Shepard way ahead of the rest of the team.

Kaidan's biotic powers are still substantial. The way the game presents it, he is potentially one of the strongest human biotics because of his L2.

Not to mention that he was multi talented. Apparantly he did some engineering on the side. And he's also a capable hacker. Dude has more talent than batman.

Seriously, CS, stop QQing. The way the VS acted was irrational, but their suspicions were completely founded. Hell, if it weren't for the fact they whinged like a spurned girlfriend, I'd say their unwillingness to abandon their loyalties was a high point in their character.

Chakwas did say he had over a dozen special commendations.

we have no idea what the VS has done since the end of ME1, the Alliance is still fighting the Geth and maybe they did something or some things to prove themselves

Kaidan has already been proven as a more-than-capable combatant, since Anderson personally assigned him to the Normandy, and Ashley is a more-than-capable Marine who was subjected to crap assignments based solely on her family's history, which even she overcame when she made Chief (remember her father never got  a high rank and the first thing he did was salute her)

Kaidan had a dozen (12) or more special commendations as of the begining of ME 1.  Proven Soldier.

Ashley had excellent Scores, but was forbidden any decent posting until Anderson's actions after Eden Prime simply because of Her Grandfather's surrender of the Garrison of Shanxi during the First Contact War.  Loyal soldier, yet lost opportunity on the part of the Alliance.  She even managed to survive the destruction of her unit by the Geth (simmilar to a Certain possible background of Shepard (Akuze)).

By the End of ME 1, whichever survived the Player's Choice on Virmire, will be considered Highly capable, enough that I'm almost surprised that they didn't get a promotion after the Battle of the Citadel.

Sounds a little fishy to me. Went from nobodies to Spectres in just over two years? I don't buy that.

I don't either but I figure they gave VS specter status because there was a void where shep was so they where promoted for appeasement so Earth wouldn't feel shafted on a global scale because they lost their only specter. I still think Garrus would be 1% believable as specter and VS is 0%.
