I've always romanced Alistair and made him king but this time we're taking a different route (pronounced root :happy: ) ...

we're playing a male elf mage tart, who wants to run off with Alistair and let Anora rule
Currently we're in the Four Treaties - done Eamon & Mages tower, and have Leliana as our one and only, but also kissed Morrigan who's "interested", and have flirted with Zev, who is "interested" - isn't he always

don't mind dumping Morrigan, have romanced her before.

Is there a way to let Leliana down gently, I fear the worst, she's a loyal lovely girl; keep Zev flirty, but say no to all out romance; move onto an everlasting love with Alistair?

There is no way to be with Alistair if your PC is a male... his character was written to only be interested in females ( most likely because he was raised in the Chantry). There may be a mod that you can use to change this if you are playing on a computer, but I'm not sure since I use PS3.

However, I do know that if you have "hardend" Alistair you can end up marrying him and still keep Zevran as your lover on the side... it was a bit tricky, but I managed to do this on one of my play-throughs.

on the PC he swings both ways,  first run through I did I was male and ended up with Alistair

with Alistair and have Zev as a lover? hmm but I only want Alistair as a lover, and Zev as a once we were friends with privileges (isn't that the term?) and I don't want to upset him

I never used a mod, it was on a completely new DA Origins, with no add ons or mods.
That was when the game first came out

Hm, it happened to me once as well. I had the Equal Love mod, but all my Wardens always fell for Zevran, I never flirted with Alistair and he was at 'friendly'. So I uninstalled the mod. Then few days later, when I started the game again and talked to Alistair, he gave my Warden the rose.
My Warden was quite disturbed that Alistair thought he was a girl.

ok this is really weird .. I KNOW I romanced Alistair with a male elf mage, he never referred to me as a female, I didn't use a mod either, so why when I google it does everything say I can't?
I have even loaded an old save (off-line in case I bugger it up) and we talk about "us" ...

I what did bioware do??

I've seen posts where people are playing a male Warden but Alistair refers to them as "my love."

Ha ha. Odd bug...

But in answer to your question, characters always take a small hit when you break up with them, you little heart-breaker, you. But no-one seems to hold a grudge about it. You can still work them back up to 100% friends afterwards.

got to say, if I can't romance Alistair I might as well stay with the Chantry lover :-(

TanyaT (I've never played a male) however when playing a female Leliana will understand the Alistair choice is "better for you". As far as Zevran is concerned you can talk to him at Redcliff before retiring for the night and speaking with Riordan I don't remember exactly how the conversation goes but there should be an option when he says he's a "gentleman"...and you can reply Oh that's a shame or something like that, that should cement his referring "I'm yours" again and give you the correct "storming the Black City itself" at the gates...now point #1 about Alistair you should be able I would think to install "Anyone can marry" Alistair mod which would allow you to rule beside him should you choose by getting rid of the flags checking for female noble...I don't see why it wouldn't work with the whole Equal Love male idea as well. Unless you're referring to the jealous talks then if you have Feastday gifts use the (coal/onions) to lower Alistair's approval rating below "love" then don't talk to him until after the Landsmeet.
