Lol, exactly. The boss fights in Deus EX are a joke. I managed to finish one fight in about 5 seconds using that pre-order grenade launcher lol.

Third one, right?  Same here. I hadn't even used that thing yet since I'd been doing a non-lethal stealth run and figured I ought to bust it out and see what it could do.  I was completely shocked at how quickly the guy died.

Yep, that's the one. You basically stun-lock him, before he can even pick up his weapon and after about 5 seconds, he dies.

"no one could fail to notice its exasperating boss fights"

I stopped right there.
Whoever thinks boss fights in Deus Ex: HR are exasperating, should stop playing video games and should not be taken seriously when talking about video games. What a load of crap.

I have to admit when I first got the game and heard about these "legendarily hard boss fights" I was pretty nervous & excited at the same time.

Its not the difficulty, its the fact that they can't be fought in the same style as the rest of the game, especially if one concentrates on stealth, it breaks immersion. The bosses themselves barely feature in the rest of the game and the fights just seem so removed from the rest of the game. Which makes sense now that its been discovered that Eidos actually outsourced the boss fights.

You could've did this. :innocent:

That would have been a fantastic way to go in ME2, DEHR drops the ball in a similar manner with Adam being saved by being augmented, they touch on it early in the game but soon drop it.

It's not just touched on early in the game.

For me it was, I never got that Taggart option you mention. So its hardly any kind of overall story element.

All you have to do is go into the conference room. 1005 I believe. And you'll get your audience with Taggart. As long as you don't stealth into the room or use Taggart's comp first.

I had a conversation with Taggart in the reception area of Sarif's office I think it was, and in the final level, in neither did I get the option. If Jensen's feelings about being augmented were a significant part of the game more would have been done.

Thread is getting off topic from Mass Effect, it could get locked.

Hahaha

1) I think it has about run its course anyway.

2) Have you seen the threads that are going on right now?  I think an "off topic" thread is going to be wwaaaayyy at the bottom of the mods' list of priorities when they finally wake up.

Then lets get back on topic:

A good way to put things in perspective is to ask what Zero Punctuation has to say about DXHR supposedly "great story"

This human understands ;)

I just interviewed TotalBiscuit, not sure how many of you are familiar with him but he's a fairly known figurehead in the world of online gaming. Amongst the things we talked about he also talked about his view on narrative and gaming. When the interview is up I'll pop it here.

Riiight! Here's my interview with TB.

The part about games and narrative is on page 6. I have to say I agree with him.
