bought this game thinking it would be the full game but no. the second i log it offers me downloadable content? there are missions in the main story line you cant do without paying another $10. I knew EA was a lame ass company but i didnt think Bioware would be as well. Im extremely diapointed in these shiesty policies...

you should know what you're talking about before going off on nerdrage, you're clearly misinformed.

It is a complete game. Despite the annoyance of the NPC in your camp no one is FORCING you to buy DLC, you do not HAVE to. Believe me, there's between 30-100 hours depending on your playstyle without ever touching DLC.

Just to make sure the point is clear: the DLC are totally optional. The game is complete as shipped, minus the free Shale download which is it's own story.

It is a full game. But then there is content to add to that full game. You don't have to buy any of the DLCs if you don't want to. They have nothing to do with the main quest.

Everything you said is wrong. Except there being extra content that can be purchased. I expect this to be locked/deleted soon...

It IS the full game.

DLC is optional extras. Emhpasis on optional. And extras. It's their way of giving us new content fast instead of waiting for an expansion.

And no, the missions in DLC are NOT part of the main storyline, there just happnes to be somone you meet on the main storyline who begins a DLC quest.

Who forces you to buy more content for this game? This game is bigger than anything you'll see currently released on it's own. You don't have to if you don't want to.

... It is a full game. The fact that there is still additional content, separate from the game proper, does not change that - just like the release of an expansion pack does not make the main game "not a full game". Really, people..

And before a moron comes in going "troll is obvious troll" or "you have been trolled"

Id rather there be a page full of posters dismissing his BS then let some person who actually looks around for information on a new purchase to be misled.

There's an error in the thread title.

"...have to download..."

You do not have to do anything, mate.

Now, if you say "Who thinks it is HURLOCK that Bioware dangles more small bites of delicious content over the heads of its fans for a highwayman's price?" I agree, it is most certainly Hurlock, sir.

okay for everyone who thinks im just ranting... thats your opinion. im sorry but this is just an obvious ploy for the game makers to get more money out of people who play the game. its different when they release a game and due to demand for it, they release expansions... this however didnt happen like that. they knew people were going to buy the game because, ofcourse... it looks badass. Putting the DLC in there right away, to me, is like them saying "oh wait look at all this **** we made before but you dont get for 60$". chastise me all you want but its still BS wheather you want to defend bioware or not.

You are mistaken. The DLC was made as the game was already finished. It was included to promote collector's editions and digital copies. Wouldn't it be totally unfair if people that did not take the collector's edition should in turn be punished and not be able to get those addons at all? Of course not. Thus they can buy them for a more than reasonable price.

You will come to realise that many, many games these days will make DLC. And DLC will cost money. It's simple economics. It costs them money, they expect funds in return.

And as always. If you do not feel the need to buy DLC then simply do not. They are not required for the game and are completely optional. If it's a waste in your eyes, just don't get it and stop complaining.

If this is an angry rant at why Bioware released DLC at game launch, I hypothesise that it was due to the fact that the dev team had finished bioware, and started making DLC immediatley (Being the super awesome and commited dev tem that they areImage IPB) and by the time the producers/publishers or whomever got around to releasing DA:O two intsances of DLC were allready finished.

It's not BS. If you do a little research, you'll find that there's a reason you have to pay for Warden's Keep. Which BTW is the ONLY DLC you must purchase (if you want it) at this point in time.

Quick synopsis: WK was always intended to be for sale. It was developed by a separate team from the main game and due to the delay of the game's release (to coincide with the console release), WK was ready to go on launch day. If your assertion is that it should be free, when it was intended to be for sale from the outset, I'd have to ask how you justify that position.

actually, no.

1) they finished building the game.

2) while the game was being qa'd and finalised, they had a different team building brand new content which would be available as DLC.

so, there is no possibility of the dlc being in the game box because:

1) it wasn't created when the game box contents had to be locked down for testing and finalisation.

2) it was developed with a different business plan to justify the additional resource expenditure in terms of staff wages and materials.

Yeah, there actually is a plan at work here and it's not as nefarious as many people seem to immediately assume it is. Part of it is an anti-piracy effort, part of is a move from larger more expensive "Expansion Packs" to smaller DLC that lets you pick and choose what you want to add to a game.

yea ofcourse i didnt mean HAVE to download. but like you said, they dangle it infront of you, INGAME, on the main story line. im sorry if there is a character in the game telling you about a quest and then half way thru the convo he drops the download this content option on you, thats NOT a full game in my opinion.

I guess you didn't know that the game was actually completed early this year, but was delayed to make the console version. During this delay they have been making DLCs. The DLCs would not have been available if they released the game earlier this year when it was finished.

1. Did you buy the DLC twice or something?

2. You don't have to buy it.

3. You really don't have to buy it.

4. DLCs are never part of a "full game" and should not be. They are optional additions to the game.

Yes, they want money for a
product.  A product whihc required time an money to produce.  A product
above and beyond the game itself.

Tell me, why do you think that you're entitled to more than you paid for?

Then
your standard is moronic.  Judging whether a game is a full game can
only be done on how much is there.  There is, without question, a full
game's worth of content here.

So instead they should not promote something they made at all. And instead have it hidden somewhere on the internet where just a few people will find out and they in turn have to have knowledge of how to include it into the final game? Whereas it will be beneficial for BioWare to promote it ingame, and beneficial for those that buy it because the addons are already placed in the game?
