There is a fix for that issue.  Go to the tech forums, it's a stickied post.

I'm having trouble finding said post.  Help a brother out please.  I may be blind, but can't see it.

No worries, brother, it's not in an obvious spot.  Direct link is here:

If you are not logged into the Dragon Age servers and try to load your save game that uses DLC, the game does not load and tells you that you need to be logged in.  I know because the game repeatedly screws up logging into the server every time I boot up and I have to repeatedly exit the game and re-load it before it sorts itself out and recognises that I am logged in.

I have registered the game with my bioware account.  It just appears to be buggy. :?

Yeah, the DLC framework is a bit buggy sometimes, but there are ways to make it work out. I personally had to download all DLC files manually to finally install them, and then had them validated by complete surprise after a long period of frustration. It worked out well enough after that. Keep reading, though, as I'm posting a link or two below.

The general FAQ for all DLC-related issues is in the topic here. Overall, it covers almost everything. For playing the game with DLC's while offline, the issue seems to be largely due to there not being a serial key saved locally on the PC. The Impulse installer had trouble with that, do your best bets would be:

1. Running Dragon Age_code.exe to enter the key again, if you have a DVD rather than a digital distribution version, it should be in the \\Data directory on the DVD.

2. Adding the key manually to the registry, as detailed in this post. I believe the old forums had a topic with more thorough details on this issue, but it has since been archived. If anyone has a link to the archive or to a post in this one's support section, it would help more.

I decided to voice my opinion as well.

First of all, I absolutely love Dragon Age, ever since release day it's been the only game I have played and I think it will last me throughout the rest of the year.

I am one of the people that like DLC, as long as it is implemented in a good way. Though I must say that Warden's Keep is a bit disappointing. The quest was quite short and the Chest is useless to me, because why would I want to put stuff in it instead of selling it? The only reason might be secondary equipment for my character (or party members) but I rather have those in my backpack so I can use them whenever I need them than in a chest somewhere on a mountain very far away. The quest itself was a lot of fun although short.

Still, I am hoping for some good future DLC and mostly for an expansion, I would like future DLC to continue on the story if possible or perhaps quests where you learn a lot more about the world of Ferelden or perhaps to one of the other countries. Perhaps it may come in the future, perhaps it won't. All in all, I am very happy with my game, and I'm glad I bought it.

So thank you, Bioware.

If there were not one single DLC module in existence, Dragon Age would, in my opinion, be a great value. Comparing the price to the number of hours of quality entertainment I'll enjoy on my numerous characters over the next year or so, if feels like a real bargain to me.

The DLC has been (since I bought a collector's edition) mostly free. I did buy one, the Keep, and I feel like it was well worth the $7. I'll buy the Ostagar for $5, and if I add an hour to each play-through because of it then it too will be a bargain.

Comparing the price of an hour's worth of quest and dialog content in the form of a DLC module to a $20 dvd or $30 blu-ray puts things into perspective, I think.

I think the problem here is that alot of people think that they don't have the 'whole' game if they don't buy DLC. Which isn't true of course but you can't change that; just talk to flemeth she'll tell you.

I probably will be buying the DLC, if only because i enjoy the game and want to pay for more content. That is my choice and we will see if the quality of the DLC will change my mind but so far It hasn't. I liked Wardens Keep for what i paid for it. Although this may have been biased because shale is free.

Since when?
It's optional content. You would be hard pressed to argue that the content included in a boxed Dragon Age is not worth $60 and complaining about the choice to pay for more is plain stupid.

For those of you still reading... I have a couple of questions for those willing to submit more feedback: Do you know how long you took to finish each of the main quests in the game? Do you feel that an average DLC module should be around equal what these quests take?

Apologies for not giving this the due attention sooner, Gabochido, and I'll understand completely if you've given up on this topic a long, long time ago...

I haven't been timing myself, really, but if I were to make a rough estimate, 10-15 hours would be the length, I guess. And yes, I would be delighted if the average DLC took that much - it would mean that every DLC is truly its own small adventure, rather than just one quest.

Ah, but you have to think of how humilitating it is to ask dad for his credit card everytime new content becomes available... Sorry, I am hitting on a somewhat immature attitude of "Me wants!!!111" here. I dont work for free. I simply cannot. I have to pay rent, bills and whatnot. As a matter of fact, an average citizen of wherever is milked most for the basic things, like rent, taxes, health care... Yes, to pay this, I need salary, so I cannot work for free. Neither can Bioware employees.

it's laughable to argue about a few bucks that you spend on entertainment.

Perhaps some people will understand once they are responsible for themselves that there is no such thing as a free lunch... for giving out lunch is done to support your loved ones and yourself.

Seriously dude. We know some people don't like DLCs. You don't have to go around responding to every single thread about it.

I;m not about to read through 16 pages but I will comment. If the DLC isn't like an exapansion in size than its not worth paying money for. I'll go download free mods.

@Gabochido:
I would say I spent 10 hours on the Brecilian Forest, 6 hours on the Mage Tower, and considerably more (not done yet!) on Orzammar.
I would absolutely eat up any DLC of this size (note that I haven't bought any premium content yet).

Cheers, I think it might be that I needed to set the daorigins.exe file to run in administrator mode.  Hopefully it will start beahaving itself now.  I had the launcher set to run in administrator mode but not the .exe directly.  Fingers crossed.

But I still resent the talking billboard in my camp.  Wonder if I can feed him to my dog.... ;)

well you can disable the dragon age content update service and then go delete the bioware folders in documents as if starting from a new install

and never try to log in and you will never see any DLC and the NPC in camp will never show up.

you can however still install none bioware content just ignore the message when it says update service disabled when nstalling user created content.

*no I haven't read 16 pages of whining*

I'm just venting because this is getting old:

If you had bought the PC version you would have gotten better graphics, better controls, and modability for only $50. In addition you could have bought the collector's edition from Impulse with a coupon that made it $51.99 or pre-ordered from steam (though for only a short time) for the same price.

Do your homework before you drop 60 bucks. Even without the coupon you could have got the PC collectors edition for 65 with all the dlc.

I apologize, and yield my soapbox

And we're done. Let's roll this discussion into this thread, where the team can see actual suggestions of what people want in a DLC much better than they can in here. Thanks.

End of line.
