Hi folks,
Anyone remember a nice little dungeon crawl called "The Lichway?"

It was written way back in the late '70's by the late Albie Fiore & was apparently the first full scenario to appear in White Dwarf (number 9 according to the Dragonsfoot website).
Personally, I remember it as one of the very first adventures I DM'd in this strange game I'd bought on a trip to London a few weeks before called D&D.  I don't think any of us round the table had much idea what we were doing that evening, but we had fun.

And now its just about completed as a NWN2 adventure.

Its just a short affair (about an evening's worth of play, for a party of 3rd level characters) & is set as a bit of a sequel to "Against the Cult of the Reptile God", using the same starting town, which will go on to lead either directly to "Oasis of the White Palm", or another short bridging adventure to get characters up to level 6, ready for the desert...

Everything's just about finished - I had a run through with my brother & a couple of henchmen yesterday & fixed the odd bit here & there that wasn't quite right, but there's not much left to do - so expect a release to the vault pretty soon. ;)

Great! I haven't gotten around to playing Cult of the Reptile God yet, but these are some mods I want to get into.

I love the idea of PnP conversions. The NWN2 toolset seems perfect for that.

Look forward to hearing more.

Harumph!

Nice. I look forward to the release. My gaming computer is out of commission at the moment but as soon as I am able to play NWN2 again I will give Against the Cult a shot. Good luck putting the finishing touches on Oasis.

Very nearly finished folks - everything's working grand except for a couple of scripts that are supposed to update the journal when a group of monsters are killed, and a trigger fired script that was working fine until the other day - I wonder what I did that broke that one :-(

So very close...

Hi M. I'm not really that fast :-) : Lichway is really just a one level dungeon, although I've split it into 3 sections for ease of loading. The starting town is the same as the on in the Reptile God adventure, so its all fairly strightforward - I'm all for recycling!

Overall, it takes about 3-4 hours to complete - assuming the party's not over-powered, and trying not to die to much. There are at least 2 encounters that can spell almost certain doom if not handled the way the author intended, but there are plenty of clues to advise what to do - I hope!

Re progress: I've just managed to get the trigger working that suddenly started failing - my first use of variables in an adventure & I think something went a bit wonky - but its all straightened out now.

I've run a multi-player test with a 3rd level party & it all went well, and several higher level solo's.

Game balance seems pretty good, although I'm still not sure if its a bit monty haul.

Only thing left is the conversation with the main patron -its getting a bit over-complicated what with all the side quests that can be picked up - might be better to scrap it & rebuild it from scratch!

This was meant to be a relatively quick & dirty production, but once I get going, I just can't help myself - trying to give a description to virtually everything around & getting all contents as good as I'd like them to be!

Just need a couple more free evenings & we're away.

Thanks Kamal - uploaded late last night GMT & 10 downloads already - happy days!!

Hope it all works out OK now its been let loose - its always a bit tense wondering what might have been missed in testing :-)

Hopefully, all those people who wanted a short, non-epic adventure will appreciate it, along with anyone wanting a taste of old school dungeon delving!

Have fun folks,

Cly.

Thank you kindly - if its even half as well made as TWA, I'll be a happy builder!

Only thing is, this mini adventure takes characters who started in Reptile God up to 4th level, but I still need the characters to rise another level before they're high enough for Oasis - time to scour the old White Dwarfs again I reckon.

Anyone out there got any ideas for old (shortish) P&P mods they'd like to see in NWN2?

Was just checking out the entry on the vault. The screenshots look great. It will be nice to visit Hochoch in the autumn.

Good luck with the release and hope you get lots of downloads!

Congrats on the release. There weren't any screenshots when I checked it the other day, but I saw them now and they look great. I'll see if I can play this one soon.

(If I do, I might be unable to vote, due to some problems with my Vault account).

Thanks chaps - have fun in there - I'm looking forward to any feedback you might have - good or bad.
One thing was the level of treasure in there - I didn't want to be too stingy in the main treasure room, but at the same time, after I totalled up the value of everything in there, I cut it down a bit as it seemed a little excessive still (the original adventure didn't have any set treasure in the final vault - it was up to the DM what to leave there for the players) - let me know if it seems a bit big still.

Also, I have a sneaking feeling that there was an issue with the Baron's conversation after you've completed some quests, but not all - although I ticked it off on my notes. However, since its a bit of a stroll back to his manse, I'm assuming that almost all players will wait until they've fully explored the Lichway before reporting back to him - so it won't ever cause any problems.

What tilesets did you use? Is that deep chasms?

Hi Matt, I used a mix of the Deep Chasms (for the entry to the Lichway - supposed ot be an underground cavern/lake - and RWS' very own Dungeons - although I had a couple of problems with the latter that I reported a while back.
All the same, I found solutions or workarounds & I really like the set - I was getting a tad bored of the standard dungeon set.
