Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
This game is so amazingly crafted, and put together, as you get to know the bond between Snake and The Boss. It is incredible to see how it develops throughout the game, and characters like Snake & The Boss makes this game incredibly satisfying, with an even more satisfying and tearful ending. The twists are clever and the revelations of The Boss's true mission and her love for her apprentice always makes me shed a tear. I loved this game, and I loved the ending.
inFamous 2
The thing about Sucker Punch is that in their games there will always be comicbook cutscenes with a third-person narrator, as a voice over, in the background who elaborates on the events currently going on. One of the incredible things about this game, and its predecessor, is the narrative and the way that the plot takes sudden turns during the game. The ending is incredible, and truly expresses themes such as brotherhood, friendship & sacrifice. It all works.
Red Dead Redemption
This game also happens to include a tragic and sad ending. John Marston spends the entire game to hunt his former brothers-in-arm, in order to save his family from government hands. It's all in the title "Redemption" as Marston desperately tries to redeem himself from his days as an outlaw. He seeks to break himself free. It ends in tragedy, and thus his son, takes up his fathers mantle and the cycle of violence continues. I think it was stunning to see such an ending, and the great thing was that I never would have expected it.

- Another World's ending left me cold. It isn't really an ending. Where the hell is the dragon going?
- Monkey Island 2 went too far with that twist.
On the other hand, I remember with special affection Jade Empire's evil ending. I know there are plenty of games that let you become the new bad guy, but this game took it to the personal level and made you really care.

Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal: It can definitely be bittersweet with some of the character endings and that just makes me love it more
Fallout New Vegas: While I've only so far finished it with siding with the NCR, I'd still say the ending is incredibly satisfying for the main quest, once again some bittersweetness for a few characters. The DLCs? Yeah, a good portion of the endings slides for all except Honest Hearts make me cry like a small child, so they are even more satisfying that the main quest slides.
9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors: The true ending of the game is basically 3-4 hours long depending on your reading pace and the ability to solve the few puzzles that it contains. Let's put it this way: I learned how to play Sudoku while my eyeballs were streaming tears everywhere. I love endings that draw emotion out of me, and without a doubt the True Ending did just that.
Fallout 1: What a nice little suckerpunch Black Isle decided to give me after all that hard work. Hello Bloody Mess trait, you just made it that much more satisfying.
Jade Empire: Closed Fist ending is so far the best "evil" ending BioWare has made to this day. Still waiting on that sequel there guys.
Bittersweet endings do rock my world.

Perhaps because of this or GLaDOS the first Portal's ending sticks in my mind as very satisfying. Odd the power of cake.

For me a lot of game endings are crushed under the weight of all the effort you put into getting to the end.

Not to mention the song!
On the OP: Now that I am through with DX:HR, I have to say I really liked the ending. Could have used a little cutscene for the characters for each ending but I thought the video sequences and monologues were very well made and fit perfectly. The final level was a disappointment though and there is still much to explore in a possible HR2.
Oh, btw, I just read DLCs in one of the posts: Just want to say, with Mass Effect 2 DLCs, Bioware created one of the biggest disappointments in terms of climaxes/reveals with the Shadow Broker DLC (really good DLC but the SB itself was a huge letdown for me) and one of the most emotional moments I have ever had while playing a video game (the end of the Overlord DLC). All in all, a mixed bag.

Only one that really sticks in the mind as a great ending, for example, i love the Uncharted games, but neither had outstanding endings.

So much more gratifying than if the Warden dies. Story over, epilogues awesome.
It's like Rocky if they never made any sequels. That movie, if you pay attention, is great. It won the Acadmy Award for a reason that has been tarnished from many people's minds by the cash-in sequels.

Sorry cannot think of anything else other than Alpha Protocol, probably because I just completed it.

Other honorable mentions include Descent Freespace, and Freespace 2.
Most unsatisfying for me was the end of Starcraft Brood Wars. I almost swore off Blizzard entirely after that. Fortunately, SC2 made up for it quite a bit.

Nods - Try not to think of Broodwars as the end. It's like Empire Strikes Back and SC2 is like RotJ. It will end solid. I had no problem with Broodwars' ending because I knew it asn't really the end.
I got to discussing this on another thread. Even WC3 The Frozen Throne was not the end - Wrath of the Lich King was the end of the Warcraft saga.
Now, of course, Blizzard is just cashing in. But if you stopped WoW after defeating Arthas and re-imprisoining the Lich King, it made for a great story.
After the way Blizzard ended Diablo 2 I see no possible way for Diablo 3's story to hold any water. I'm almost giddy to see how they try and 'splain this one just for yuck-yucks.

DA:O: I actually liked the monologue ending, it was well written and had beautiful art alongside. And Leliana's fate in my play through...damn.
TW2: conciliatory path with Letho. Unlike any other ending I've experienced. CDPR had balls, giant balls, to do this.

This. I love the macabre style of Diablo, and enjoyed the gameplay to a great enough extent to go for the sequel. The story, however, feels like it ended at Diablo 2. There are far too many cases of unnecessary sequels in the industry. And as much as I love diablo, #3 is one of them(unless they severely prove me wrong).

Hey look, a bunch of Japanese games. I hope I can eventually find a Western game with an ending I deem satisfying.
Staring at you, ME3. Your move.

And I haven't played RDR yet but with that company something tells me I'd be pleased.

Mass Effect 2, when your whole squad survives and you blow the collector station up.
Mass Effect 1, where you save the destiny ascension and destroy sovereign.
Drakensang, where you kill Malgorra, before she can awaken the ancient dragon Ardakor, and you awaken the dragon Umbracor, so that he can bring order into the world.
Dragon Age: Origins. I mean, come on! how can you not like it's endings, even if you die?

Heavy Rain
Although this also applies to the "feeling cold" section as well, it ultimately depends on which ending you get. The one with madison and ethan starting a new life with shaun is very uplifting - conversely, the one where ethan commits suicide right as madison walks away from the grave is absolutely brutal.
My first and favourite ending was where Madison died in fire in the apartment, and normon died in the fight with Paco. That left Ethan, who had gone through all the trials, to finally meet the killer and save Shaun. After all Ethan went through, you think its over and they're both safe, so while he puts Shaun down to open the gate, tragedy strikes while the police shoot him on site.
It was such a sad bittersweet ending, yet satisfiying. Shaun was saved, but at what cost, and the killer walks free.

I guess it's hard to not think of BW as the end when it took them 10 damned years to get to the next installment=]

I actually don't like the Warden dies endings at all. I always thought the Warden Queen / Alistair King ending was the best one. Of all the endings, it's most pro-Ferelden of them all, which makes it my favorite.
