EDIT:  With everyones help I've resolved all my issues with the toolset!

EDIT: Trees fixed, lightmap still broken. See reference messages below.

So, I’ve finished working on a level, got all of my nodes setup, thought I had lighting setup, and when I export I get an error saying lighting is somehow messed up and would I like to use a default lighting output. I hit “Yes” and everything exports with the output listed below.

When I add the exported level to a module I’m working on I notice all of the vegetation placeable items have been stripped from the area. The bridge and cottage placeables are still there, but the trees are missing. I can enter the area and everything works properly... just the trees are missing and the lighting is wonky.

Any idea what I’m doing wrong? I could care less if I have default lighting for the time being… but I need all my placeables to show up so I can start linking areas together and setting up the basics for a legitimate module.

Two things. First make sure you do a 'Do All Local Export' otherwise you'll miss the vegetation. Made the same mistake on my first map :) Second, it looks like you forgot to render lightmaps before you exported, so make sure you click on that before doing the export.

(Stating the obvious) It looks like the errors are related to the cottage and the bridge I'm using... any ideas?

Actually, I shut off light mapping for the bridge and cottage and I still get:

E: 16:23:42 - Failed to submit lightmap layout [area1]

E: 16:23:42 - Job submission process failed with a return code of '-1073741515'.

I had that. I had to manually install the ActivePython 2.5.4.4 to get it working. And you can't use the new 2.6 either from what others say. Once I install this it fixed this problem. Be sure you get the 32 bit version not the 64 bit version.

The wiki (http://social.biowar...ing_the_toolset) suggested that you might need to get additional extensions for Python from:

http://sourceforge.n...ojects/pywin32/

I was having the same problem, and, well, after installing the extensions, it's definitely doing something, though it's taking a long time, and I have yet to see if it did the right thing!

UPDATE: It's still telling me it's missing lightmap atlas from a number of objects, but it calculated shadows for other objects successfully. /shrug Progress is progress.

Missing atlas messages are normal for the first time you build lighting. Ignore them :)

Still getting issues...when I full export an area I get stuck on "Rending lightmaps and wait.." the process seems to complete and then do nothing. The process never moves on to visualize/update light maps. Anyone encounter this? ... I'm so damn close... ugh!

I get stuck at: 21:37:29 - Successfully submitted lightmap job.

Thanks for everyones help... I'll pay it forward when I successfully get something put together.

they list extensions for 2.6. I have 2.5 on a 64bit system... so I tracked down http://starship.pyth...ippy/downloads/ and downloaded  pywin32-212.6.win32-py2.5.exe. Are these the correct extensions?

So far I've been using the offical python.org python 2.5 32bit package from http://www.python.or...ython-2.5.4.msi and the matching win32 libraries from

http://sourceforge.n....5.exe/download all installed to default location on Win 7 64bit.

So far this has worked well.

You probably want to uninstall other python versions before you give it a try.

Definitely need to uninstall other versions of python. Tried to have Active Python 2.6 and official python 2.5.4 and started getting error code 1 messages.

activepython 2.5.4.4 is the version you need, make sure its the x86 version too even you are on a x64 system.

I am having same problems. So I need 2.5.4.4? for 64bit?

Even if you are running a 64bit operating system, you must install the 32bit (x86) activepython version. 64bit activepython is buggy, 32bit activepython runs fine on any 64bit operating system.

Also, Languard -

You said you were having issues with mini-maps? You have to toggle on "Yes" for mini-map export in the list of items in full export.

Full export always fails for me. I have to skip lightmap export... allow it to do all other processes, and then do a post to local, and lightmaps export properly from there for me.

Note that on the Python website, you need to go to the "other downloads" link at the very bottom of the page to get the 32-bit version. I also needed the 32-bit extensions to stop getting the crash. Lighting is still messed up, but it's a step up, at least.
