I'll vote for him because of Mass Effect 1. I wasn't so keen though on his role in ME2. Calibrations, Sidonis, calibrations, reach and flexibility, calibrations, calibrations etc. was all he seemed to talk about.

Mass Effect 2 ruined Garrus for me.

Same here!

If you were a true fan you wouldnt need him to repeat him self from ME1... you should already know everything about him.... shame on you

Basically, /v/ (the video game board of 4chan), set up a plan to troll Gamespot by voting for the underdog. Their main target was Companion Cube but everyone else on the list where the "popular" ones.

The Luigi one backfired on /v/ as nobody cared, but Garrus is the interesting one because of BioWare's reputation on /v/. Half of /v/ hates BioWare with a dying passion, the other half loves Mass Effect. Thats why this battle has the most votes, because /v/ is very vocal about this issue.

Trolls in polls like that are way too common, they shouldn't even publish the results.

Im with you on this one... Trolls really need to repriorotize their lives. A frog from ChronoTrigger is beating the dog from Fable.... that shows how absurd this poll is...

2 Horses are winning so far.... one of which is beating a Resident Evil character... the fact that you can double your vote doesnt help matters either....

Garbage!

I'm guessing you've never played Chrono Trigger then? Because Frog was a much better character than the dog from fable

/v/ was against it, i would't call it recuiting but they're pretty much all over the place voting against the more popular of the characters.

Thinking that internet doesn't follow logic. I feel bad for you, I really do.

While it is true that anonymity creates a sense of security that often drives angsty spazs into behaving like dicks just for the sake of annoyance, you can't just categorize every behaviour you consider negative and don't understand into general dickery.
Think about all the Garrus-wearing-cowboy-clothes drawings, all the +10 000 post Tali chains, all the fan obsession gone overboard in general. Or the fact that some might consider Bioware's latest plans for a game/year schedule or high use of DLC less than desirable. There are more than a handful of reasons why someone might find those phenomena really annoying. And thankfully evolution has blessed us with the urge to intervene annoying things. You see? We all do what we do because we care.

Because a board about gaming in general is a single conscious entity.

And I think that /v/ was pretty split about Garrus. They've been pretty gay towards him in the past.

There were few kinda out of character things going on in Mass2. He just and just might brag about his reach, but carving names on his visor? Or clinging to that damaged armor? Also, as I said before, I predict him getting beaten up by the writers for sympathy points becoming a pattern. Which I guess would be okay if there were more to his character than just facing bad luck, because that's what he was all too much in Mass2: a beating sack. Seriously hope they go more for the "being in Shepard's shadow" -arc in Mass3.

I vastly prefer him in ME2.

Yep. I've never seemed to care about him in ME1, even with how dramatic his side mission's story was. He really needed that upgrade in bad assery he got in both character design and personality. The humor was also a very nice touch to break all straight business agent he seemed to be in ME1.

The name-carving and armor-clinging made sense to me, since Garrus admits one of the reasons he was so determined to go after Dr. Saleon was because he'd gotten away from him before.  That turian seems to have trouble letting things go; he's not happy unless he can resolve his past failures with the most absolute sort of finality.

However, I agree that the writers need to cut the guy a break.

Wait, Garrus can't even beat that dragon thing I've never seen or heard of before from some no-name PS2 title?

This is an outrage!

Oh. I tried to vote twice, each time it said it didn't work, so I lost interest.

Trouble letting go, yes emotionally, but using damaged gear? No, he used to be too pro for that. Only an idiot would display emotions in way like that. Ever played Halo Reach, remember Emil, the Spartan that had carved a skull on his helmet visor? Exactly.
