Of course, that strategy is based on using a weapon that you cannot attain until the collector ship and by then, most people have already formed a combat doctrine and invested in a power to deal with every defense, at least in terms of this class.

Yes, of course. You can't get Assault Rifle any sooner..

The other problem with counting on any particular weapon for specific type defense stripping is that isn't versatile. You can't run that same build of downplaying overload and/or warp and pick up assault rifle or sniper rifle training and get the same results. However, if all your defense stripping is done out of your powers, no such issue.

What do you mean? Maybe I did not manage to make my point - I think that using Shepard's powers to strip defenses is not that good idea. I think GPS + squad powers to strip defenses is much better.

Don't get me wrong, I like the GPS and I usually do take shotguns as the bonus weapon on my sentinel, but I don't like nor would I suggest relying on any weapon to take down defenses on any class but the soldier. That is just me though.

Well, GPS + Assault Armor + squad powers is very tough to beat. IMHO it is the easiest playthrough possible, after DCS you are pretty much invincible with this build.

And even on NG+, you already have the bonus weapon, maxed passive and assault armor..and you can get 3 tech upgrades very quickly.

I chose the Assault Rifle just for some variety.  I'm starting to regret it, though. I used the Vindicator on the Collector Ship and it was pretty disappointing.  It was faster and more accurate than the Shuriken, yes, but it ran out of ammo way quicker as well.  I'm going to try bringing the Mattock with me on the Reaper IFF mission, but I might actually go back and pick up the Shotgun if I have more ammo issues.  The superior Geth Plasma Shotgun is enticing.  By the way, what bonus power should I choose? I've been using Dominate just for teh lulz, but it's getting old. I feel like I could be more effective with Warp Ammo or something simlar.

I'd say Stasis is the best bonus power for a Sentinel. Energy Drain would be a close second.
Warp Ammo is a waste IMHO.

I don't have the superweapons so...

Still love the Vindicator. It doesn't get the ammo of say the Revenant, but it is sufficient, especially since you can fall back on the SMGs. Per shot the Vindicator is very powerful, and is quite useful as a headshot laser due to its accuracy.

That is one reason why I strive try to spell terms out in full so no one-gets confused, especially new readers. Or, if I will use an acronymn, I will spell out the term first and then put the acronymn in paranthesis. For example:

Area of Effect (AoE)

It also helps to know that many people reading these forums do not speak English as their native language, so I always try to keep that in mind when I post something in the forums.
