Can the Geth really be trusted?

Legion may very well have spoken truthfully, based on conditions existing at the time.
But the 'consensus', amongst Geth 'runtimes' could easily change, based on new data.
Simply put, like I would expect any sentient species to act in their own best interest.
If some condition dictates that the best chance of survival, for the Geth, is to join the Reapers, then they will.
My guess, is that Shepard will still need to convince the Geth, that their best interest lay in siding with her against the Reapers. Depending on your earlier actions, in ME2, it could be a 'hard sell', or it could go over smoothly.

So.. speaking of geth (and because I am slightly too lazy to start a new thread), has anyone figured out why the Heretics are so interested in terraforming yet? What are those synthetics up to?
They want to fix the Quarian's planets to make nice with them. They were probably left as bad as Earth in the Fallout Universe.

Perhaps they wanted to use terraforming to make habitable planets uninhabitable, a weapon against organics?leonia42 wrote...

Heretics. Not Legion's geth, who decidedly aren't interested in terraforming.

That's my take. Basically, some exploratory weapons research.

Possible, though the two examples of terraforming I can recall were on uninhabitable worlds.. but that doesn't necessarily debunk your idea.

Oh, must be the weather thing I saw in that one mission. Good thing I made the heretics good Geth again.... I think.

Possibly, but perhaps it was just a test of some new kind of mining or industrial technique. There was a lot of free minerals on that whatsitsname place where they built their weather machine thingy.Capt_Flashheart wrote...

Terraforming? Where?

Firewalker (frozen world with Prothean artefacts) and there was an N7 mission, also had lots of resources to gather along the way. Can't recall the specific planets that the missions occurred on though.

They were experimenting with climate alteration in this assignment:

and, as noted, in this one as well:

Sounds like they're trying to use the climate as a weapon, since they're relatively unaffected by it.

Pfft, that's a silly question. Can any other specie be trusted?
Not really. Any other race can do something negative if they're motivated enough or forced to it. There's also always that unknown factor which puts pretty much everyone on the bench of distrust until the opposite or otherwise can be proven.
