I think this is an awful representation of Liara T'soni.
Besides Liara is over 100 still rather young for an Asari but not a child, so why have a childs face?

So Bioware let's this man make his artistic representation of their character by drawing Liara with cantelopes for ******, and a six year old's face.

Who's talking about hating anime? I've seen a ton of people in here saying that the people who don't like the statue "hate anime".
How about the fact that it's face looks like a CHILD.
This has nothing to do with anime. It has nothing to do with denying Liara's character a "sexual aspect". Those breasts are not the breasts she has been shown to have in two games now. So Bioware let's this man make his artistic representation of their character by drawing Liara with cantelopes for ******, and a six year old's face.
I mean, it's creepy. I'd feel like a pedo for buying it. Which I won't be.
Doesn't mean I hate anime. Disliking this statue doesn't mean your whole precious genre of anime is garbage, stop overreacting.

Im just getting a little sick of all the self righteious people complaining about the statue having sexual aspects(OMG!). While she does have boobs that are a bit bigger then normal, and yes I agree the face dosent look exactly right, But you all sound like conservative grandma's worried what your neghbors are doing in their bedroom. People have their sexual side, yes even Liara. She is not a Prude Asari. Calm down. Dont like it, vote with your feet. I think its ok to show Liara like that sometimes, and it seems a little sexist in a way to deny her that aspect. It dosent demean her or make her any less smart to be in one mildly sexy pose imo. /rant off

That's exactly what happened, and the sooner you accept it rather than using it as a counterargument which it isn't, the sooner you'll get over the fact that this figure is stylized for a specific demographic. If you aren't part of it, just consider it doesn't even exist.

You haven't been in the other Liara figure thread or many other threads showing BSN's hate for anime.

I apparently have not. I'm sure that this exists, but saying the entire communtiy hates anime is a rather large and sweeping generalization.
If those people exist and are upset about this statue, it's probably because the Mass Effect universe hasn't had any sort of anime influence whatsoever. It probably does not attract a lot of anime fans--I know there are some here, but you didn't look at Mass Effect and say, "whoa, great anime style!". So seeing this sort of interpretation of a character that people have grown to love (personally, I've never even *liked* Liara, but whatever), probably upsets those people.
I have no issue with anime. My issue is--the statue looks like a child, and doesn't look like/represent what Bioware's shown of Liara in game. Except maybe the clothes.

Sorry, did you miss the multiple posts labeling all anime fans as paedophiles? Or the posts that ignore the awful pose to say that the anime styling sucks? Or how about the posts ignoring that fact that its a prototype figure and that the head is not of the same quality as the body to bash anime and, this is the important bit, ITS FANS.
Bash anime to your hearts content, i don't care a toss. The second someone starts on the fans they prove themselves an ignorant narrowminded bellend and are inviting counter abuse.

Since they are making a Mass Effect Anime I'd say Anime is having an affect on Mass Effect.

Nobody here is being conservative (tbh, after the ME1 Fox news crap and how it was mocked by everyone, I think accusing us as conservative is probably the more far fetched thing ever), it's just the statue looks NOTHING like Liara, and doesn't capture her personality whatsoever in the slightest. From the way she acts in the game and comics, did anyone ever get the impression that squeezing her ****** would be even remotely in character for her? Sure, there's plenty of other asari strippers and stuff, but that's not her.

That was not announced until after ME2, if I'm correct. So again, I reiterate my point that people didn't come to the ME series looking for an anime style.

Those people who are pissed about this figurine are little to soft skinned. Seriously I can understand why you would dislike it but get pissed over it is pointless since you don't have to buy it and it isn't how Liara is going to look like in the game.

That's a solid point, and I'll give you that. However, the DEVS were the one that posted this figure online (I believe facebook, actually) and asked everyone what they thought of it. The conversation just happened to spill over here, since these are their boards. I don't think you should take such personal offense to such an overwhelming opinion. I am a HUGE Kaidan fan, and I've read a ton about how people hate him, nuked him, etc. It's people's opinions, and the developers specifically asked for them. So here they are. Some are maybe not in the most constructive manner, but it is what it is--that's the internet, unfortunately.
My opinion is still that it looks like a creepy, oversexualized child with a gun and huge ****** that don't belong.

As if ME was SOOOO unpopular, that the getting the interests of pedo-anime fans is necessary for the financial success. I don't know the numbers, but the extra income coming from around-a-vide-game merchandise can't be much more than 1.5% of overall income, can it.

Maybe they want to buy a statue but they don't want feel like indulging in a 16 year-old's fantasy.
Since its a thread complaining about the current figurine, I think its a legitimate place to demand a new one that isn't geared for people who haven't interacted with real women.

I'm completely fine with how the statue was SUPPOSED to turn out. The concept art looks great, and while her face doesn't look like Liara's exactly, (in anime, differentiating characters, while varying between artists, is usually either the eyes, or the hair. Mostly the hair.) its still a great merging of concepts and ideas.
However the statue doesn't translate very well. The breasts bulge out more than they should because the arms are squishing them together (in statue making, the japanese actually don't usually do that unless the character ALREADY has large breasts. Not in this case.), the face isn't even close the concept, and the legs are a bit long. They altered the pose of the concept art to make it more.... unmodest? Im not sure what the word is.
Other than that though, I think its cool that Bioware is doing this. I just wish they would have stuck to the concept better.
Again for reference, this is the concept.
