I am not a big fan of anime/manga personally. As such, I won't be buying this statue. I suggest other people who don't like it also not buy it. This also works for foods you don't like to eat or clothes you don't like to wear. This may sound like madness, but you are not forced to buy things you don't like.

For those who do like the anime/manga style, I think thsi is a very cool statue. As I said, it isn't for me, but I know there will be people out there who'll snap this up when it is available. I like that the ME team is thinking "outside the box" and looking at merchandise that is different. Hopefully there'll be other statues, toys, trinkets, etc that come out which fans are not expecting. :)

Yeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrssssssssssss... But... you guys did ask for our opinion on it, no?

Well, that was a rather unexpected and baffling objection.

This isn't creepy, exploitive, or sexual at all... compared to the sh*t I see here on the BSN - the forum which, BTW, has a dedicated "NPC Romance" forum. Seeing people claim "trauma" over "seeing a lover be objectified" is proof enough some of you should be institutionalized. Oh no, your NPC lover is sexualized! As opposed to all the not-being-sexualized in ME1 and ME2? Eugh.

I don't know if it's more ironic or baffling to actually see you people throw such a fit, though I think it's just parrotting the Escapist article. People around here constantly need some e-cause to "champion". Someone on the internet said I should be outraged! /pitchfork Baaaa! /sheep

I think you'll find that even for those that like anime style, they won't like the statue. Just browse the comments for the anime figure websites that prevewed the Bishoujo line (Ghostbusters, Marvel, now Mass Effect), even there you'll find the feedback has been very negative. And I'll tell you why:

You know what makes a good anime figure? One that actually looks like the anime character it's based on (there are exceptions, but this certainly isn't one). The problem here is that the artwork the figure is based on doesn't even look like Liara at all to begin with, so you end up with something that the vast majority of people will dislike: it's not so much the anime style, it's simply that it's not Liara. Sure you'll sell a few copies, but given the talent of Kotobukiya I can't help but see it as a missed opportunity since it could have been so much more (and sold a lot more). It's not like Liara's original design is so "un-anime" like that Kotobukiya couldn't create a figure for it. I just hope they'll go for a complete redesign, it may be a drastic decision but they asked for feedback so it would be silly to ignore it afterwards when it's so negative.

Ugh. The bickering is getting tedious. I can't believe they haven't locked this thread down yet. <_<

EDIT: Rojahar has the right idea. It's good to know some other people feel the same way I do about the hypocrisy around the BSN.

Why complain about something endlessly that you dislike? Why not just state that you dislike this style and move on?
I have noticed a large number of people on this forum dislike anime, yet you simply can't just say "not my thing" and move on? You have to try and make this to be some great evil? I do believe on page one Chris said all that has to be said.

Personally I would concider buying it, besides I collect a number of high-end PVC anime statues and they rarely come out identical to the concept design.

Maybe they want to buy a statue but they don't want feel like indulging in a 16 year-old's fantasy.

If you want another statue, this thread is not the right place to ask for it. If you don't want this one, don't buy it.

Since its a thread complaining about the current figurine, I think its a legitimate place to demand a new one that isn't geared for people who haven't interacted with real women.

Just to bring this up again. Bioware released the pcitures asking for feedback. People like LGTX should keep in mind that these complaints are just that Feedback, Not all feedback is positive and the simple answer if you don't like it don't buy it is not an appropriate way to respond to feedback that you, or the company asked for. You deal with the feedback use it to improve the product and hopefully pull in a bigger market.

Releasing the pics as a tease is one thing that's saying "Oh look at this product we're releasing anyone want it?" But releasing this with "Hey we have this statue can we get some feedback before it's painted" Is Asking for this thread and others.

I don't understand what is so hard to get about this fact. Can we drop the childish "If you don't like it don't buy it" line in a thread that's giving legitimate Feedback made by the community the statue is supposed to sell too? pleasefor the sake of all feedback everywhere can people like LGTX drop the "Don't Like Don't Buy" Crusade as that is totally disregarding all negative feedback about the product and only condoning the positive responses.

Negative responses are Feedback too.

"People like LGTX" never said anything against feedback. They simply suggested a preferred course of action via the feedback received.

Notice the First Quote? that's a dismissal of feedback. Offering the simple "solution" of "Dont' like it Don't Buy it" Disregards all negative Feedback. Just look at what you said. "If you don't want this one, Don't Buy it" Well people don't want this one So they are stating why they dislike it in the hopes Bioware will take action because they asked us for our feedback (aka Our Opinions [negative and good]). What you and mr. priestly(he did his unintentionally i'm sure though) have successfully done is Void any negative feedback on the statue. Whether direcly mentioning Feedback or not That's what you've done.

Again this is roughly equivalent too Say as an example the ME 3 CE boxes with femshep on them: You like the femshep that's on the box and you voted for it. Bioware releases images of the box and asks for feedback you notice it's not the same picture you voted for. You complain about it because it's not the one everyone voted for (including yourself in this hypothetical scenario) You are met by someone who says "don't like it don't buy it" This should imply that the individual doesn't care about your feedback, nor that of the community that voted, but that you are staring at finished product and nothing you can do can change that.:: <<----This is what people like you are doing

You are disregarding negative feedback from the community because they feel the statue is off to some degree. How do you do it? Subtly with the essential proposition of "Don't Like it Don't Buy it" Which is ultimately, obviously, what everyone here is going to do if they're feedback isn't listened to anyway. So not only is the statement throwing away negative feedback even if it wasn't intended to throw negative feedback away it has no purpose and is also a completely moot point because no one who is complaining will likely buy it anyway.

I won't argue on it any more because i don't want to derail the legitimate feedback being generated here But "People Like LGTX" do need to stop dismissing legitimate complaints such as the face overly large boobs too long of legs too slender of body deviates from the concept art too much etc... as these are all comments of feedback and should be treated as equally as the positive ones. And if bioware isn't taking the feedback they asked for to heart God Help their games in the Future.

except he makes the mistake of assmuning all members of the BSN complaining against the statue participate in NPC love threads and have some degree of mental instability and can not think for themselves.. Again effectively dismisses all negative feedback. If anything his post proves more to me there's no Truth or fairness to be found on this site any more apparently that died when ME 2 came out -.-

If I thought that much before posting three words... *sigh*

I understand that you interpreted my quote in your own way that justifies what you're saying, but really, I wasn't dismissing feedback. I got the gist that the person I was quoting was suggesting a new statue algoether, and suggested he/she take it somewhere else.

Saying "Don't like it, don't buy it" is my own opinion. I can post it two times a day if I want to, it doesn't break the untold rules of merchandise discussion. It is part of it.
