Considering the intent of the line of figures, which is to reinterpret popular western characters in an "anime" style, I'm fine with it.

I do wish, however, that there were another figure collection in the works that was high quality, true to the game models, and included all or most of the main characters, because I would totally buy a Garrus figure that had a good sculpt and paint job.

If this figure was coming out in addition to a collection like that, it would probably go over better with the fanbase.

What is it you people don't get? If you don't like it, don't buy it. Simple as that.

The problem is that people are seeing a trusted friend (and possibly lover) trivialized and sexualized by an exploitative anime sculptor.  It's bad enough that Liara felt the need to wear push-up space armor in LotSB, but now she may feel pressured to get eezo breast implants to keep pace with the unrealistic body image being foisted upon her by predatory entertainment media.

Aside from the emotional trauma this will cause the Bioware fanbase, there's also the matter of retconning our internal role-playing stories.  There could be thousands of pages of fanfic that will need adjustment to accommodate Liara's body image (and bigger boobs, in some of the more...exotic...writing).

The scope of this outrage is much wider than a simple decision not to by some sort of manga/anime statue.

This is going to sound very ironic considering the subject, but Liara is not your waifu. She's a fictional, and yes, sexual, video game character. There is no grounds to get up in arms because, again, she is a video game character. Imaginary. Not real. Not, just to make clear, your pure-innocent waifu.

This thread gave me a great idea: blow-up dolls and/or real dolls modeled after ME characters. That would really be thinking outside the box when it comes to merchandising.

Being Japanese isn't an excuse for being bad. And, as a representation of Liara, this is bad.

No. I only want a curvaceous and busty Garrus with his <3bumcheeks<3showing.

Its a Bishoujo figure people.

Really what did you expect? If you don't like the style, don't buy it. This does not change anything about Liara herself.

Its like the Hatsune Miku Advertisements that came to America. She was "americanized" and changed how she looks. Its no big deal, and it does nothing to the actual character herself. Hell the fact she even got a statue might even attract some of the Japanese demographic to look into Mass Effect.

But why?
Why not medieval style, or Steampunk style, or super TRON style with glowing LEDs?
Just sayin.

Why a medieval figure? Why not a middle eastern figure? Why not a sherlock holmes Liara? Why not a Warhammer Liara? (For the greater good!)

We can play the "why not (x)" game forever. However its a Bishoujo figure. Mass Effect does have a nice fanbase in Japan.

Saying "Bishoujo" over and over does not make it more "artistic". She still looks lowest common denominator silly. I have more than a few friends who are Japanese (women) and they would also not be impressed. None of us have boobs that size and shape, BTW.
It is kinda weird, and defending it is fine or whatever, but I'm allowed to think it stinks.

I want TRON style figures...

Because that's the art style the person who made it specializes in.

Why did Picaso paint like Picaso?

Let me fix that for you... Her boobs  are not realistically proportioned the rest of her body's frame.

Also... Biotics.

Oozing so much testosterone that football players seem nerdy? Or the muscles that hide the head? Maybe the chainsaw bayonet earrings?

What? I am not trying to make it more "artistic." I am saying what it is. What the hell are you even talking about?

If they made a Liara tron figure, I would be saying the exact same thing, just replace tron with Bishoujo. I am not even arguing against how silly it looks. I agree that the boobs look too big, the legs are too long, and the face is wierd.

However that is not what I am arguing with you about.

Get your arguments straight mate.

I understand Bishoujo and what it represents, and I know the characters are meant to look young, I just can't personally wrap my head around the fact she looks THAT young in the face. It's like she has a 12year olds' head, on an adult body.
