I'm new to the ways of modding this game, and I have a small question, is it possible right now to be able to edit the animations?
Further, would it even be possible to, say, "port" some of the animations into Origins or vise versa?

Mostly curious if those who are better than I add modding (not that that's a high bar) know if this is feasible. Or even if they have done so already in some fashion.

From my experience, the answer to this is no for the most part. The models in each game have a different bone count and are rigged differently, so if the toolset doesn't crash, you will most certainly get some weird results when using DA2 animations in DA:O.
The animation/model rigging would have to be reassigned internally. If you are up for that then great :) Then send them to me :P

Edit!!! I meant no as far as "importing the animations"
As you can see below, (beerfish), recombining that is of course possible:D and animations within the toolset can be combined cut and manipulated within the cutscene editor itself

If you want to edit the *existing animations* that can be done with Gmax (my experience) and using Eshme's export tool can be exported into Dragon Age:(origins)

Well you can make new animations groups with the 'Animation blend tree editor' in the toolset. I haven't worked with it other than just having a peek so I'm not sure how to get them in game but there must be a way.

If you mean importing the animations directly from DA2 to DAO as far as I know, and as DahliaLynn explained, it is not possible you would need to use a script to transfer the animation from a DA2 skeleton setup to DAO setup using 3dmax http://social.biowar...m/project/3551/.
