I'm impressed by the general lack of creepiness on this thread.

Obviously hair dye is too easy way (although I was redhead, fire red - head and even was violet with yellow spots hair when I was younger), so both main Shepards, two of Hawkes (one of them is on avatar) and Cousland are BLONDE POWER. Main Warden - Surana - has auburn hair, majority of remained chars are redhead, several have raven hair. Natural fade? Pssst.
Green eyes - pure green eyes, not green with brown centre as IRL - seem also to be an object of unhealthy obsession. All of Wardens, majority of Hawkes and Shepards are green-eyed. The second popular colour is blue.
Also I strongly doubt that I'll ever do facial tattoo (again, Hawke at ava is good representation).
However, several features which obviously origin from my look migrate among all characters: wiiiide jaw and chin, obsession with ponytails and buns, rather big faces.
Where's the secret? I usually start to make char resembling myself, then find out that engine doesn't allow to implement the feature in right way, give up and making completely new char based on purely aesthetical views.

Unlike most people I only have 2 Sheps a male and female. Female is cannon, the one I made all initial decisions without prior knowledge. Male is for seeing the alternative.
Female one is based on my girlfriend. Mind the scars of course (which I actually dig, plus didn't have so much platinum at the time).

Male one is the default male Shepard. I've never been able to make a decent custom male Shep without making him look like a gorilla.
I do have more or less the same hairstyle as the default one and a few similarities face-wise (photos of myself in my album).

EDIT: et tu, Xili? I'd always thought you were just an unusually emotionally sensitive guy.

Most of my Shepards don't look like me, though. My "canon" female is a paragade ginger woman from Earth, and my "canon" male is your regular old Sheploo because making male faces is a pain in the butt.

Or, they look kind of like me. I'm much too handsome for simple software to accommodate. I'm afraid that if they ever let you scan your actual face onto your character (maybe with kinect?) that my beauty would cause the game to crash irrecoverably.

I've found myself getting involved with the Mass Effect story a lot lately... Maybe because of the anticipation of ME3 and how my choices will carry over. Whenever I google a question about Mass Effect 3 it always brings me to this forum so I decided to register. It's good to be here with other peeps who are fans of the Mass Effect universe. None of my friends are a fan of the series so it's a bit of a bummer... It's also good to see there are some attractive female Mass Effect fans out there. Anyway I play the ME series on Xbox 360 =o but I also have a PS3 to play exclusives on..
If anyone needs me I'll be holding the line.

I thought everyone did this. All of my Shepards look like me, as well as my Couriers in New Vegas and my Vault Dwellers in FO3, and probably my dragon age characters when I get around to buying the game.

How funny!
@Admiral Cheez, I was always thought you were female. The "tone" of your posts always struck me as female. Granted, i thought you were a bit older...idk why. Oh, and choco covered espresso beans...Yeah! Love those things. They'll have you giggity all day.
My Femshep...well, she kinda looks like me. I made her as close to me as possible. Although I didn't think about it at the time, but yeah...Except for the hair and nose. I've got really long, curly--downright unruly hair. Won't find that on the CC, but it's the same hair color. And I was lucky to create a nose that didn't look like something an Orc would sport.
Everything else tho, the facial structure; eyes, eyebrows, mouth...skin tone--almost. It never crossed my mind to make a Shep that looked vastly different from myself. After I found out I could be a chick, I went full steam ahead trying to be the star of my own video game..lol.

Welcome!
ME is by far my favorite series. It has kinda spoiled me for other games. However, I do like AC2 and up. Looking fwd to Revelations.

Screw that, I have chocolate covered espresso beans.
On the note of creepiness, I am somewhat curious as to what Saphra looks like, but mainly to have a face to connect to the sometimes insane, mostly brilliant voice. Same goes for Zulu, though.
I always wonder what people look like, especially high-profile people like Saphra or Zulu or marsh...or you, for instance.
My Sheps never look like me I think because I don't really consider myself particularly attractive. Not ugly, but not attractive. My Malesheps tend to have blue or green eyes, blond or black hair, a somewhat rectangular face. All of my Femsheps look the same for some reason.;

Welcome!I know what you mean. No one I know is into ME, try as I have to get them hooked. In fact, I know hardly any gamers..none. Okay, maybe a very few, but it leaves you out there w/ no one to talk with about it.

Exactly. Some of my friends even send messages along the lines of "lulz you're playing that old game". They just don't understand the mass effect universe.

Everyone put something of themselves on their creations. So it's normal if there are some similarities between you and your Shepards.
