Please help.  I'm in Act 3 and have been playing the game, quite uneventfully, for the entire time.  Now, for some unknown reason, everytime I enter combat Hawke goes in slow motion.  Needless to say, while everyone is fighting furiously around me Hawke is taking a battering (and dying) as he's getting hit multiple times before he executes even one attack.  Has anyone had a similar experience?  If so, what was done to correct this.  I can't see proceeding with the game if I can't get Hawke working at regular speed with everyone else.  Please note that I have not made any updates nor changes to the originally installed game.  Thanx in advance for any advice you might be able to offer.

Sounds like the Isabela bug.

The Bug's been around for 5 months I've logged a tech call and what can you say other than its pretty disappointing,

I've thought of going right back to the point just prior to where Isabella picks up the Friendship attribute and trying to rework the strategy from there however for what - The User group shouldn't be trying to implement a work around to the issue that onus really is on the the Game Developers and frankly whilst I do note that there has been any number of "minor" fixes effected in the latest 1.03 patch - the fact remains in terms of being a game stopper the Isabella Bug is a show stopper.

What can I say other that its pretty ****** poor prioritisation on behalf of Bioware!

@Hagbareinherjar: What are you talking about? As far as I know this was fixed in patch 1.02.

@Steve Louis: Make sure you up to date on the patches. Do note that patching the game will not retroactively fix this issue. You'll need to edit your save for that. The thread caradoc linked has instruction on how to do this.

Not true about having to edit saves after patching to 1.03, unless the patch didn't work as they said.......
Dragon Age II 1.03
------------------------

NOTE: Some fixes
are retroactive, but not all. Players with plot-breaking bugs may need
to revert to an earlier save, particularly a save prior to visiting the
affected area during the current year in the game.

GAMEPLAY
--Edited for length--
- It is no longer possible to simultaneously enable sustained modes that are supposed to be mutually exclusive.
- In some cases, enemies would freeze while entering combat. This no longer occurs.
-
In some cases, saw traps or spike traps would throw party members back
even when the trap was not visible. This no longer occurs.
- The Special Deliveries chest can no longer get into a state where it contains items but cannot be opened.
- The storage chest is now present in the Hawke estate after completing the main campaign.
- If the Black Emporium premium content is installed, the mabari hound now follows his master more reliably.
- Various character-corruption issues now correct themselves automatically when you load your game.
- Various minor gameplay issues no longer occur.

^from this thread on patch 1.03  ==> social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/300/index/7521358

So according to patch notes, if patched to 1.03 the problem will be fixed on next load after patch......

So OP, patch to 1.03 and enjoy the game.

I stand corrected.
