I must have missed out on there being more female gamers than male, and stats to back that up. Fact of the matter there *is* more male gamers than female and there *is* still the "horny undersexed nerd" stereotype to deal with, and cringeworthy lesbian scenes as found in Bioware games do nothing to deter that stereotype. People see those vids on Youtube and think "wow that's lame, do those nerds jack off to that" and other toss.
So what if they do? Stereotypes are
incredibly hard to kill. Even if all of us overnight turned into a bunch of tea-sipping intellectuals and every game was an artistic masterpiece, so long as the media distributes that stereotype it
will continue to exist and some people will inevitably believe it. That's
their problem. And I should believe that there are a lot of games that to far more to strengthen the stereotype without a single lesbian romance in it, even.
And no, my point was that the gays as represented in Dragon Age are unrealistic and not at all like the vast majority of those you meet in real life, many of whom choose to affect an irritating air of campness.
I don't act like this. None of my gay/bisexual friends act like this. The gay people in Dragon Age are not unrealistic, they are simply not the sort you're used to.
