Do you feel differently about the asari now?

Matriarch Aethyta got me to thinking about this. She wanted the asari get more active in the galaxy and they "laughed the blue off her ass." They seemed quite content to waste time as mercs and strippers instead of focusing on more important things. If the asari were more aggressive with researching technology up to now, the Reapers may not have  stood a chance when they arrived. True, that is pure conjecture and I will do what BioWare allows to save their species, but what is wrong with them? Samara pointed out that the asari have a dirty little secret, a genetic defect they try to keep from the rest of the galaxy. My opinion of their species has dropped since ME1. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Nope the Asari are still the dull blue women who can "F*** anybody and have kids with all though nobody understands how exacly" - in my book.

And how does any of this make them any different from any other species?

I'm a big fan of the Asari because of their Athenian culture. They focus on self-betterment, learning and knowledge for its own sake, and art/history/music/philosophy. These are all the important questions, the ones at the crux of human existence. Getting dem dolla bills and making badass technological improvements are not relevant to the human condition. These sort of things are what we have to do out of necessity sometimes.  We need to make money because that's what is required in order to feed our families. We need to make badass tech because otherwise some fascist, militant government will take us over.

The Asari didn't know about the Reapers, so I cut them some slack here. If they knew about them, they probably wouldn't have been as complacent.

I think they need to be kicked off their throne. The asari and the other Council races were too blind, stubborn, and stupid to see the Reapers coming. They are obviously not fit to rule the galaxy.

I have no interest in seeing their species destroyed, I guess I'm seeing everyone has flaws, even the mighty asari. I agree that had they known about the Reapers, they would have done something.

I propose a new council with a Krogan, Human, Salarian and Turian members...

and a lot of Asari hookers dancing around on poles, because obviously they're better at that than politics.

I'm irked by the Ardat-Yakshi thing, but humans have worse secrets and have done worse things. All in all, I feel that they're, overall, culturally superior and if I had to pledge my loyalty to one species alone, though I hate the thought of doing so, it'd be to them.

I think the Council should consist of Human, Turian, Salarian, and Asari, but should be rotated out every year. To much time on your high horse makes you look down on everyone else, including people like Commander Shepard. Annual swapping ensures there will be a lack of corruption.

The Council should have a representative from every race. I feel like this is a no-brainer.

If the asari had advanced technologically much faster than they did over the millennia, then the reapers would have likely arrived sooner.

No they wouldn't have. The Keepers had already been re-programmed by the prothean scientists.

I disagree.  If a species cannot unify itself, they have no business interfering in galaxy politics.  The Volus for example, have no unifying government so therefore cannot speak for all Volus'.  However, Humanity did unite and are working as one even though seperate nations maintain seperate governments.

I never really like the Asari as a race anyway. Found them kind of dull, to be honest. And stupid. And hypocritical. This is on the whole, mind you. As individuals, I found a lot of them to be chill.

Nah. I figured they were derpy in ME1.

LOL WE FOUND THE CITADEL 3000 YEARS AGO BUT WE NEVER CHECKED OUT THAT STATUE OF THE RELAY DERP

That said, my opinion of them is not bad. They're just as flawed as everyone else.

So having a single, one-size-fits-all government for an entire planet (representative democracy hardly works at all in the U.S., and we're talking billions of individuals instead of a few hundred million) is the litmus test for having an effect on the galaxy?
